Video: Suspension worthy? Borowiecki tossed for elbowing Boll

Nov 17, 2013, 4:34 PM EDT

Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki might be getting a call from the NHL Office of Player Safety.

At 5:44 of the third period and the Senators down 4-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets, Borowiecki elbowed Jackets forward Jared Boll in the face putting him down on the ice. Borowiecki was then engaged with James Wisniewski in a post-hit fight.

Borowiecki was given a five-minute major for elbowing, meanwhile Boll was uninjured on the play. The Blue Jackets went on to beat the Senators 4-1. Have a look at the play yourself.

It doesn’t appear to be anything more than a hard hit at high speed that caught Boll turning around on the play. Perhaps Brendan Shanahan and the gang in New York City will see things differently.

      No doubt.

Seidenberg elbowed Ryan in the head the night before causing Ryan to miss the remainder of the game (was late in the game anyway) and got no supplementary discipline.

Guys in my high school elbowed people in the head and then immediately turned around to look for a fight all the time. It was no big deal.

You’re an idiot, the guy came right up to him milli-seconds after the hit.

Dennis potivn is one of the most biased and idiotic announcers in sports. Was a hell of a player though.

if Kadri rec’d 3 gamed for his elbow to the head of Backstrom, then Borowiecki should get invited to NY for an in person hearing, receive a 5 game rest.

announcer (Potvin I think) “that’s the kind of hit you want earlier in the game”.
No a hole that is the kind of hit they are trying to eliminate from the game.
    leave the feet head shot.
