Hurting Khabibulin? Blackhawks recall Antti Raanta

The Chicago Blackhawks will have a different goalie backing up Corey Crawford when they face the San Jose Sharks Sunday night.

Saturday night saw Nikolai Khabibulin go down with an injury in the Blackhawks’ 7-2 loss to the Nashville Predators and the team has recalled 24-year-old Finnish prospect Antti Raanta from Rockford to replace him.

It was just over two weeks ago the team decided to stick by Khabibulin through his early-season struggles and said Raanta would not be recalled.

Now with the 40-year-old Khabibulin banged up, Raanta gets to hold down the backup job until they determine how serious he is hurt.

Started off well in Rockford, struggled a little the last 2 weeks. Be interested to see if he gets the start since Crawford had to get put in in the 1st on his scheduled off day. For what its worth Raanta played last night for Rockford in San Antonio.

Think they have to go with Corey against the Sharks. And the Hawks need to deliver their “A” game.

Khabibulin couldn’t stop a beach ball from rolling up a hill.

chiadam – Hands down best comment so far and by the way I am a Hawks fan. Sadly the wall’s best days are behind him and is not really servicable any longer. Hopefully the new kid can come up big for the Hawks because Crawford can not play every night. No goalie should be expected to.

The Berlin wall is more sturdy than the Bulin wall at this point. This signing was not exactly one of Bowman’s better moves as GM. Oh well….

I think Raanta is here to stay. Khabibulin is just too old and too banged up at this point.

Welcome to Chicago Anti, hold down the 2 spot. Get it done!

bad timing for hawks to be sure…

the clydesdale the hawks use to model and construct crawford’s hockey pants, chest armour and pads, died unexpectantly from apparent exhaustion during recent fitting adjustments

if that wasn’t enough, mourning players discovered vandals had tampered with the crane used to elevate corey’s pants in preparation for lowering his diminutive backside [ two axe handles ] into the waiting void

hence, need to call-up antti raanta

on a happier note, it would appear crawford has signed a lucrative endorsement deal representing promotional interests for the simmons bedding company; company representative philo beddoe, declared the deal to be a natural fit…

‘…corey’s been using our mattresses as goalie pads for several years, so we thought we’d make it official, nudge nudge wink wink…’

    more to come…

Is it just me or does this knucklehead muckleflugga have all the verbiage and poetry of Big Country Bear from last year who ironcally is never seen any longer? But please I beg you, please keep commenting, I love everyone’s reaction to your nauseating verbiage.

He sounds more like Eklund from hockeybuzz….more to come.

I dunno, this one seems even more clueless than the former countrybear (who looks good as a rug by the way)

    • peterjohnjoseph - Nov 17, 2013 at 4:48 PM

Well, this still makes more sense than signing Khabibulin.

    Muckleflugga is a douchebag.

I think he must have one of the world’s biggest (buffalo) chip on his shoulder.

enduser: You are giving these guys too much credit which fuels them. Seriously look at the comments they post. One guy makes a comment then denies it was made or can not back it up, while the other just says something to have a comment on the internet. Just like any fan base, they are the exception to the rule. I’m not sure if you were around last year in the playoffs to see how many Hawk fans were posting comments and most of them, like me, and several other were very respectful. I remember hearing all sorts of stuff only to see those same guys disappear when the Hawks win everything. That is the definition of bandwagon.

Hammer, I was not posting here, as I did not find this site until June.

But I have been posting on Yahoo game threads since the 2009/2010 start (and don’t reply wit the bandwagon lameness, I started posting on Yahoo game threads in 2009 as that was when I discovered them.

What I found on Yahoo posting on Hawks game threads when their teams were not involved in the game were a number of guys just there to flame/trash, never contribute anything of substance, nor backing up their trashing. Biggest % of the offenders were Kings, Nucks and Pens, with a couple persistent Leaf and Yotes fans.

I’d refute their posts, often posting items that actually took research, understanding the game and relevant stats. Rarely would anyone attempt to answer with any objective reasoning, just got dismissive comments.

Hammer, In case you also do Yahoo, I post there as Scott D. Would have signed up as the same here, but due to browser issues at the time, I could only get WordPress to accept my e-addr with them adding 2013.

    • endusersolutions2013 - Nov 17, 2013 at 4:59 PM

I think he must be gifted with “feminine intuition”, or how else could he sense that som many Hawks posters are bandwagon fans?

a regular user of douchebags, is well acquainted with their purpose and application

ditto the enema, handy before hitting the town on saturday nights

  9. muckleflugga - Nov 17, 2013 at 5:50 PM

that’s odd, i saw much of your material, and it was for the most part, puerile and offensive…an affront to knowledgeable hockey fans who actually play the game, rare in chi town where round ball matters most
