Vanek to miss third straight for Isles

Thomas Vanek

Thomas Vanek will miss his third consecutive game on Thursday when the Isles host the Kings, the club has announced.

Vanek, 29, suffered an upper-body injury just seconds into Saturday’s loss to Columbus, left immediately, and didn’t return. He was subsequently held out of a 4-2 loss to Montreal on Sunday, a 3-1 win over Nashville on Tuesday and won’t have a chance help the Isles earn back to back wins tonight.

(If the Isles do pull it off consecutive wins, it’ll be for just the second time this season.)

Things have not gone well for Vanek or the Isles since he was acquired in an October blockbuster from Buffalo. The Austrian sniper has three points in six games — just one goal — and the Islanders are 3-5-0 since bringing him aboard.
