Sabres’ Moulson ‘embarrassed’ after getting benched Friday

There were several low points for the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

They were soundly beaten by the Anaheim Ducks, in a game goalie Ryan Miller called “a disaster,” and the line of Matt Moulson, Cody Hodgson and Tyler Ennis was benched for the entire third period, and even a few minutes in the second as well.

Moulson, who the Sabres recently acquired from the New York Islanders in exchange for Thomas Vanek, wasn’t happy with being parked for almost the entire second half of the game.

“It’s the most embarrassed I’ve been in my career,” Moulson told the Buffalo News.

However, Moulson was still at a loss for why, exactly, he and his linemates were benched.

“We’ve got to work and I didn’t feel the work was there,” said Sabres’ head coach Ron Rolston following his team’s 6-2 loss to the Ducks.

Moulson scored twice in his first game with the Sabres, back on Oct. 28. He has yet to find the back of the net since then, recording four assists in his last five games.

On Friday, the trio of Moulson, Ennis and Hodgson combined for just one shot on goal in 10 shifts and almost 11 minutes of ice time prior to getting sat.

The only thing more embarrassing than playing for the Sabres is not being good enough to play for the Sabres.

he made an example of his best players. it was the right move. those are the guys that need to start shouldering the load now…wether it was their fault or not the team will look at that the right way i believe.

and either way, you’ll get a better performance out of guys like that, especially moulson. he’s a competitor.

nothing to do with not being good enough to play for them.

Too bad neither Dumbo Darcy the Dinosaur or Rolston Purina show any sign of embarrassment at the club they are putting on the Ice.Kevin Dineen got fired Friday but I think even HE could do a better job doing either man’s job.

Rolston’s next. This move along with his use of players like John Scott all but assures his place on the hot seat.

Any sane person would agree, but we are talking about the Sabres here.

Hey Sather-Molson for DelZotto and the kitchen sink.

as an Islander fan I will be happy to take Moulson back, I can tell Vanek is not what this team needs, and the Isles have stunk since that trade

You don’t bench your best player…when he’s been with your team for one week…and he’s a UFA.

Yes you do if you want the worst team in the NHL

Funny enough, while this line wasn’t great, they weren’t on the ice for any of the goals against. Just seems strange to single out your top line like that, when they were far from the only problem. That’s a good way to turn the players against you….

Congrats Buffalo, You just made Moulson’s future a little clearer by knowing where he doesnt want too be

Get me the f outta here. At least the food is good.

I actually think Moulson, Ennis and Hodgson are good players, but if that’s your top line, as a team you probably stink. They are all excellent complimentary players, but that is not a top line in the NHL. I’ll say it again, they need to put Ryan Miller out of his misery and trade him.

Sabres struggle on road trip, Rolston relieved of his duties.

I can’t wait to read this as a story, I wake up every morning hoping to find it but I’m let down each and every time. You know it’s bad when the Bills have a better playoff shot then the Sabres do!

This is all part of Darcy’s plan. The Sabres want to deal him at the end of the year to the evil genius can move forward with his master plan. The rate Matty was going the fans wanted him to be resigned. He has to stop the fans from liking him because the Sabres fans have an irritating knack of liking good players, and this establishment will have none of that!
