From a club press release:

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Aaron Rome from the Texas Stars, Dallas’ development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, Dallas has loaned defenseman Kevin Connauton to Texas on a conditioning assignment.

Is it big news? It is not. But it provides us a good opportunity to give the Stars (8-6-2) some love after they swept a tough three-game road trip to Ottawa, Boston and Detroit.

Next up for Dallas? The defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday evening at the American Airlines Center.

In all likelihood, the Stars are still going to have a hard time finishing top eight in the Western Conference, but this past road trip could be a confidence-builder for a team that’s missed the playoffs the past five seasons.

“We’re getting better, and we can feel that,” said forward Rich Peverley, per the Dallas Morning News. “We’re pushing games to overtime and we’re getting points, and we’re winning.”

So get out and cheer on your Stars, Dallas hockey fans. The future with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin could be a fun one.

These “let’s throw ’em a bone” articles are more insulting to the teams they’re about than not writing about them at all. The appropriate time to write about the Stars was after each of their three hard-fought overtime road wins. Making Darysuk’s goal the headline last night was a slap in the face to a Stars team that played their hearts out and got a tough win in a tough environment, and who continue to grow and get better game after game. Just quit with the patronizing articles.

Seriously. Datsyuk pulls an NHL14 quick deke and gets an article written about it, Benn cuts through the entire red wings organization and scores a beauty that goes entirely unnoticed, never mind the fact that the stars actually won the game. Yet the article still somehow had to be about the red wings. It’s amazing how biased these posts are, and I’ve been coming here less and less because of it.

I suggest you two do a search for Stars posts in the past week. You’ll find lots on Seguin, video of Nichushkin’s first goal, and a post after the win over the Bruins. There are 29 other teams. Trades. Suspensions. Coaches getting fired. I challenge you to find a national site that does more on your team.

    *Datsyuk. Sorry.

As an avid Stars fan that enjoys this site I expected this article to have zero comments. Why should it, we’re talking about switching up our 8th defenseman! Like you guys I was hoping to see the Benn goal to be addressed, or how about the comeback win in OT in hockeytown! Why not talk about longtime Red Wing assistant GM Jim Nill’s first game back with his new team? Nah, let’s watch another Datsyuk goal.
