Pascal Dupuis has his own line of Dijon mustard

Nov 8, 2013, 1:56 PM EDT

Courtesy PLB Sports — “your premier source for athlete-endorsed, quality food products” — comes Dupuis Dijon Mustard, the official condiment of Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis.

“The new and improved Dupuis Dijon is now available,” boasts the website, which makes one wonder what the beta version was lacking. “Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis’s mustard is back just in time for the playoffs. Get your bottles today!”

Dupuis Dijon opens the door for a number of other Penguins-related foodstuffs. They can either keep going on the alliteration tip — Crosby’s Creme Caramel has a nice ring to it — or play off of players’ reputations, and do something like Marc-Andre Fleury‘s Springtime Crumble.

    Whoa, that Fleury joke, incredible.

    • steelpenbucs87 - Nov 8, 2013 at 3:40 PM

      I laughed, I cried… it was perfect.

  2. burgh916 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM

As a Pens fan, this article shouldn’t have even been on PHT. Not sure how this is newsworthy other than getting in a MAF joke at the end.

    • Jason Brough - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:03 PM

Thanks for the editorial advice. It’s a funny post about mustard. We think PHT will survive having published it.

      • devilsarethebest - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:04 PM

This entire post could have been a huge pile of crap and it would all be worth it for that Fleury joke.

      • miketoasty - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:16 PM

As a Pens fan, even I think it’s funny. And until Fleury proves himself in the Playoffs he deserves the criticism. Again though, this is all in good fun!

I’m sure you wouldn’t be saying the same thing if it was Giroux Graham Crackers and a joke about JVR popcorn (Get it, since he’s just been watching the games recently as a healthy scratch? Yea, it was a terrible joke, sue me).

      • miketoasty - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:17 PM

And of course I screwed it up, Luke Schenn popcorn of course, JVR whatever kind of food means your tearing it up! (Beans maybe?)

      • devilsarethebest - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:18 PM

Um JVR has been playing great… in TORONTO. I think you’re talking about Schenn, the guy he was traded for.

      • burgh916 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:22 PM

No, I didn’t even say it was a bad joke. It was good. I can’t stand fleury as much as the next guy who’s actually watched every single game for seasons.
What I’m saying is how is this at any point hockey news related? Post something about the Penguins, gets views and comments, post some funny joke about a failing Fleury gets the flame trolls rolling… Rinse repeat.

In the end it’s just an article saying Dupuis has his own mustard, stop the presses!

    • Mike Halford - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:06 PM

We would’ve posted this on ProMustardTalk but that’s still in the development phase. Also, that Fleury joke wasn’t even the original reason for posting. It was our unrequited love of Dijon. The Fleury joke just came to me at the end, in a flash! I am teh good writor.

      • devilsarethebest - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:08 PM

Well based on there being a full website of player mustards, there must be a good demand for a pro athlete mustard blog. Perhaps a pancake blog as well to honor Dustin Penner.

      • ibieiniid - Nov 8, 2013 at 3:17 PM

        “I am teh good writor.”

        Halford with the point after….

If you’re looking for writers over at ProMustardTalk give me a shout. I can provide references.

  4. orangandblack - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:04 PM

As a flyers, I’d buy it. Nothing like quality Mustard

  5. davecerotops - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:15 PM

This mustard came out like 2 years ago…

    • Mike Halford - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:28 PM

Yeah, but it’s new and improved now. It’s like more Dijony or something.

  6. muckleflugga - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:17 PM

    pascal’s competition:

The makers of French’s Mustard made the following recent statement: “We at the French’s Company wish to put an end to statements that our product is manufactured in France. There is no relationship, nor has there ever been a relationship, between our mustard and the country of France. Indeed, our mustard is manufactured in Rochester, NY. The only thing we have in common is that we are both yellow”.

    • ibieiniid - Nov 8, 2013 at 3:18 PM

ooh ^^^, two offended France fans.

  7. muckleflugga - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:26 PM

like a candle, it burns at both ends

  8. pxland - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:30 PM

    You guys are mustard haters.

  9. sjsharks66 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Burgh just wishes they would talk about his mustard on PHT.

    • burgh916 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:57 PM

Hahah. Yeah Mike hook me up man, might get me some customers.

  10. jasonp815 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:45 PM

Is it to early for some Varlamov Vodka. Note: I am an Avs fan

  11. c1md6 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:48 PM

Fleury would never be a crumble, more of a Swiss cheese kind of guy

    • steelpenbucs87 - Nov 8, 2013 at 3:51 PM

Did the joke flying over your head blow your hat off?

  12. c1md6 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:48 PM

Cindy’s line of pampers would sell quick as well.

    • curioustraveler13 - Nov 8, 2013 at 2:55 PM

Haha your making fun of Crosby, yet your captain can’t even give a post game interview after a regular season game in November. God bless you flyer fans.

  13. steelpenbucs87 - Nov 8, 2013 at 3:50 PM

    Other possibilities:

    – James Neal’s Peanut Butter and Evgeni Malkin’s Jellys – Malkin’s Jellys aren’t the same with out Neal’s Peanut Butter.

    – Henrik Lundqvist’s King Crab

    – Claude Giroux’s 0’s Cereal

    – Chris Kelly/Sidney Crosby/Rick Nash’s scrambled brains…. I mean eggs. Scrambled eggs.

    – Teemu Selaane’s Milkshakes: No teeth needed!

    – Sedin Brothers’ Ice Water

    • jpdoc26 - Nov 8, 2013 at 4:08 PM

I hope to God you don’t have a job in marketing.

      • steelpenbucs87 - Nov 11, 2013 at 9:09 AM

Well they were supposed to be kind of campy and stupid like most of those things are – but I may have outkicked the joke on these ones haha.

The funny thing is I do work in Marketing, but not in the creative, Don Draper sense that you probably think of as Marketing – more on the data and market analysis front. Trust me I won’t be doing any mock ups for anyone anytime soon.

  14. noochster - Nov 8, 2013 at 4:23 PM

In my collection I have unopened jars of Jagr Peanut Butter and Kasparaitis Krunchers (pickles).

  15. handsofsweed - Nov 8, 2013 at 5:06 PM

Sales of Flyer brand ketchup have been lagging behind the rest of the Eastern Conference’s condiments since the beginning of last season when the staple ingredient, ginger, mysteriously went missing from the recipe.

  16. ironman721 - Nov 8, 2013 at 6:00 PM

    Slow news day at PHT?!?

  17. pdsands - Nov 8, 2013 at 10:39 PM

How about Kris Letang’s hot apple TURNOVERS? Get yours now, because he is just giving those biscuits away!

    • handsofsweed - Nov 9, 2013 at 12:35 PM

The 2nd line SHOULD have said “Sold individually or by the bulk.”
