Report: No fine or suspension for McGinn’s hit on Seth Jones

Nov 7, 2013, 8:43 PM EDT

Colorado Avalanche forward Jamie McGinn won’t receive supplemental discipline for his check on Seth Jones (according to Adrian Dater of the Denver Post), which incensed Nashville Predators head coach Barry Trotz among others:

Jones, 19, returned to action on Wednesday night, which might have factored into the lack of punishment.

McGinn, 25, returned to action on Nov. 6 after sititng out games after Oct. 25. He started off the season hot, but now his numbers are just solid, with six points in 11 contests.

Right call, obviously don’t like to see hits like that, but Jones has got to brace for the hit better. He put himself in that position

What position? The position of playing the puck? The game would be kind of stupid if players didn’t play the puck because they were always worried about a McGoon charging/boarding them because they had the audacity to play the puck (which was gone by the time McGinn showed up).

I think everyone expected this. Typical Shannahan consistency. If this very same hit happened to the golden boy Sidney Crosby what would McGinn be getting? 10 games? I’d just like to see more consistency in the suspensions. Iv seen hits a lot less worse get 5 games. McGinn knew exactly what he he was doing and was in full control of the hit. He smashed jones head down into the boards. Very worthy if a suspension. How much cock does a team have to suck to get in Shannahans radar for fair calls? Just like the Josi hit. It’s sickening..
