Jonas Gustavsson strained his neck during warm-ups Wednesday in Vancouver, so the Detroit Red Wings have recalled goalie Petr Mrazek from AHL Grand Rapids to back up Jimmy Howard tonight in Calgary.
The severity of Gustavsson’s injury isn’t clear, but it comes at a busy time for the traveling Wings, who also play tomorrow in Edmonton and Monday in Winnipeg.
Howard stopped 19 of 20 shots in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over the Canucks, which was Detroit’s first win after a four-game winless slide.
Update:
Gustavsson is reportedly day-to-day:
GM Ken Holland said Gustavsson has a stiff neck, felt better yesterday. Day-to-day.

Another update:
According to Wings general manager Ken Holland, if Gustavsson can’t play tomorrow in Edmonton, Mrazek will start.
Holland said they don't want Howard to start back to back. He'll play tonight and in Winnipeg Monday.
