Eriksson (concussion) is able to do light workouts

Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson isn’t nearly ready to return from a concussion, but he is showing signs of a progress. He has taken an exertion test and gotten the green light to start engaging in light, off-ice workouts.

“He’s still doing okay,” Bruins coach Claude Julien told CSN New England. “As predicted, he’s taking some steps in the right direction here.”

The 28-year-old hasn’t played since Oct. 23 when he was hit in the head by Buffalo’s John Scott. The Sabres forward is serving a seven-game suspension for his actions.

As the key player the Bruins got in the Tyler Seguin trade, Eriksson is one of Boston’s best offensive weapons. He got off to a slow start this season, but he was heating up before being sidelined.

The Bruins have gone 2-2-0 without Eriksson going into tomorrow’s game against the New York Islanders.
