Nashville Predators forward Matt Hendricks suffered an upper-body injury and will not return to Thursday’s game against the Phoenix Coyotes, as per Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean.

Hendricks left the game in the second period, after taking a heavy hit from Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris.

He appeared to suffer a cut above his right eye. Morris did not receive a penalty on the play.

Hendricks, 32, had yet to record a point in 12 regular season games. He opened the scoring for Nashville, with his first of the season in the first period.

He scored the first goal of the game tonight

He didn’t take a heavy hit from Morris. He threw a heavy hit, but Morris stood there like a brick wall. Think twice about finishing checks on Morris.

Seriously! The guy just doesn’t go down! Other skaters come flying at him and hit him but his feet stay planted and they go down hard!

I suspect it has to do with low center of gravity. Morris isn’t very tall, but he is pretty heavy. The late Peter Zezel was similar.
