Alexander Steen now leads the National Hockey League in goals. You read correctly. That’s not meant to be Alex Ovechkin.

Steen scored his league-leading 11th goal of this season and the timing of this one could not have been better.

Steen scored on the power play with one minute remaining in regulation to give the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets. He collected a pass from the point from Jay Bouwmeester in the slot and then beat Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec with a backhander to give the Blues the win.

“It’s pretty impressive isn’t it? He’s one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen in any sport,” said Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo of Steen, as per Lou Korac of

Steener is playing like a man possessed. I’ve watched him gradually get better each year, but this sudden outburst has been surprising. Hopefully he he keeps up this amazing pace! LGB

Jeez. Someone noticed there was an Olympics to play for this year. Steen’s showing some crazy work ethic. Great fortunes for the typically-low scoring Blues.

he also noticed it was a contract year! 😉

I think the Blues addressed the low scoring by signing Morrow and Roy. Morrow needs to chill out with the penalties, but those two have been pretty impressive thus far. Combine that with a refreshed Tarasenko and a hot start for Backes and Steen, and they have some firepower going on. Berglund and Stewart need to wake up. They have been borderline useless these first 10 games. Someone will get replaced by Porter if they don’t start scoring.

Just please don’t put Ian Cole or Lapierre in for ANYBODY…

Quietest performance in the league? Who I am talking to? Nobody probably heard that. :)
