Video: Roenick, Jones analyze the Vanek-Moulson trade

Oct 28, 2013, 8:55 PM EDT

Before Monday’s games, Keith Jones and Jeremy Roenick provided some in-depth analysis of the Matt MoulsonThomas Vanek trade, which you can view in the video below:

Generally, the two seem positive about the trade from both perspectives, although they also seem to think that the New York Islanders face higher risks (Thomas Vanek leaving) and higher rewards (Vanek’s ceiling for scoring).

(And yes, this took place before Moulson already began silencing critics in his Buffalo Sabres debut.)

How many times is Roenick going to say they got two first round picks……….when they didn’t?

I think the Sabres got the better end of the deal. Moulson is going to be a real nice player, and not sure about the draft picks. I thought it was 2 first round picks, and I think Moulson and Vanek is a wash, giving a slight edge to Vanek. Although, Vanek has not been surrounded by a lot of talent the past few years. I would guess he will be on the Taveras line, which will be deadly.
