Flyers defenseman Andrej Meszaros will be back in the lineup Tuesday versus Anaheim after sitting five games as a healthy scratch.

Meszaros will replace Erik Gustafsson, whose play Saturday apparently drew the ire of head coach Craig Berube.

A pending unrestricted free agent with a cap hit of $4 million, Meszaros has been an expensive scratch. Not surprisingly, the 28-year-old has been the subject of trade speculation.

“I waited for my chance and now it’s here and I’m really happy about it,” Meszaros said, per Philly.com.

his chance? I was unaware Meszaros was transitioning from the AHL to the NHL. how about you come back as an entirely different player than old Mesz this time. and if you try to skate coast to coast one more f’ing time…….

It’s hard to imagine Gustafson doing anything bad enough to make Meszaros an option.

Gus was knocked off the puck quite a few times and Gave the puck away quite a few times. When you’re competing for the 6th or 7th defenseman spot, you can’t be doing that. I’d much rather see Coburn sit for a few games and maybe he can stop turning the puck over and for gods sake explain to him, It’s ok to hit someone, you won’t get an STD!
