Video: Isles’ Grabner faces phone hearing for hit on Canes’ Gerbe

Oct 20, 2013, 9:35 PM EDT

New York Islanders winger Michael Grabner will have a hearing with the NHL for his hit on Carolina Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe from Saturday.

Update: Islanders Point Blank’s Kevin Schultz found video of the hit:

Grabner, 26 did not receive a penalty following that hit and Gerbe (also 26) didn’t appear to suffer an injury. Grabner doesn’t have a history of supplemental discipline.

I haven’t seen the hit but with Gerbe only standing about 5′ how the heck can you hit him and not hit his head? Side into him on your knees?

Hip check, that way you get him in the chest.

Grabner is Lady Bing material, it would be an overreach of epic per portions is the league rules against him.

Left the ice, even on a short guy. Dirty Hit. Surprising from Grabs

Targeting the head should be an automatic 5-game suspension. I don’t agree with a phone call for hits showing disregard for the other player’s career.
