Video: Sharks suffer first loss; Stars win in shootout

Oct 18, 2013, 1:04 AM EDT

It’s still possible for the San Jose Sharks to reach the Chicago Blackhawks’ 2013 record of 24 games to begin a season without a regulation loss.

OK. clearly jumping the gun on that one.

But, the Sharks did suffer their first loss of this season, as they fell 4-3 to the Dallas Stars in a shootout.

Coming into the game, San Jose and Colorado were the only two teams yet to lose a game, be it in regulation, overtime or the shootout.

The Avalanche lost to Detroit in regulation, which means the Sharks are the only team left that has not lost in regulation.

Alex Chiasson scored the only goal in the skills competition.

Great game played by Dallas! They deserved the win in shootouts.

We had to lose at some point, credit to dallas, they played a great game, the sharks on the other hand, not so much.

They really didn’t have control of the Stars until the third. Hopefully SJ learn from the tape because the defense was giving up way too many chances to Dallas.

Shoot out was very disappointing. Not quite sure why tmac picked those three to shoot. Personally I would have gone with pavs, Marleau, and given Hertl a chance. I’m sure nemo was pretty worn out after that game too. Props to both teams for effort.

The Stars are getting better with each game. If we can just prevent the sloppy play in our own zone, we’ll be in good shape. 2 points well deserved, Go Stars!
