Longtime NHL defenseman Mike Commodore has found work overseas, signing with KHL club Admiral Vladivostok, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

Commodore, 33, was unattached this season after spending the 2013 campaign bouncing around various organizations. He was with Montreal in training camp, then latched on with Dallas’ AHL affiliate -- the Texas Stars -- in March, scoring two goals in five regular-season games.

The well-traveled journeyman has fallen on tough times since signing a five-year, $18.75 million deal with Columbus prior to the 2008-09 campaign.

While Commodore’s first season in Ohio was successful — he appeared in 81 games, finished second in defenseman scoring and played a key role in the Jackets’ first-ever playoff appearance — things went south shortly thereafter.

He saw his playing time steadily decrease until things hit rock bottom in 2010-11. After being made a healthy scratch in seven of eight games by then-head coach Scott Arniel, Commodore requested a trade but was instead put on waivers.

Commodore has since played with the Detroit Red Wings and, most recently, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
