Charismatic goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov continues to wait for an offer from an NHL team, after his camp tryout with Las Vegas in the ECHL concluded, according to Pierre LeBrun of

“Bryz will train at home in [New Jersey] until the right NHL job comes around,” Bryzgalov’s agent Ritch Winter told

“He has turned down one NHL offer recently and will wait until the right opportunity presents itself. There is no rush. He is in great shape and ready to go when the right opportunity arises.”

Bryzgalov played only two seasons with the Flyers after signing a nine-year, $51 million deal in 2011.

The Flyers used one of their two compliance buyouts on Bryzgalov this summer.

As a member of the Flyers, Bryzgalov won 52 regular season games in 99 games played. He struggled mightily last season, posting a 19-17-3-1 record.

We could use a backup goalie for our beer league team!

you didnt see kuemper crying on the bench after sieving out of the wild game…bryz might be an upgrade

I don’t know who’s worse, Pierre McGuire or that Bloomfield guy that keeps posting on this site with those stupid Elvis video links?….they both display the kind of irritating social sense that you just can’t teach.

      That’s awesome.

This was beautiful. I thank you.

There needs to be so much more hatred for Pierre on PHT. Please continue this on other stories too. The guy is my number one reason for use of my TV’s mute button.

You nailed Pierre McGuire! I can’t stand having to listen to the nbc announcers.

    • withseidelinn - Oct 17, 2013 at 10:38 AM

Pierre McGuire is the most entertaining guy to listen to in hockey purely because of the ridiculous things he says.

      • c9castine - Oct 17, 2013 at 12:33 PM

if your into ridiculous comments from hockey broadcasters tune in to a Pens home game some time. bob errey took too many headshots i think that dude says the dumbest stuff all night long.

      • skr213 - Oct 17, 2013 at 12:50 PM

For me, he hasn’t come full circle that it’s so bad it’s all the way back to good, like watching the movie Showgirls.

  4. hockeyflow33 - Oct 17, 2013 at 1:43 AM

It would be interesting to find out what the real reason why he’s unsigned is. He’s not bad enough to not even get a look

    • ikillchicken - Oct 17, 2013 at 2:15 AM

Well they said he already turned down one offer. That could be just agent BS but I think not. As you said, for all his struggles in Philly he is surely better than a team’s current options. Or at least he would be a worthwhile if unpredictable backup/plan B for teams with shaky starters. So I gotta think it comes down to money. Chances are he’s still looking for a serious deal and interested teams aren’t willing to give him anything more than a glorified tryout type deal (ie. 1 year and minimal money).

      • c9castine - Oct 17, 2013 at 12:43 PM

i think philly is proving right now bryzgalov had nothing to do with their issues. maybe they should buy out emery and mason too.

    • lovac2 - Oct 17, 2013 at 9:59 AM

He lives in New Jersey. That tells you what you need to know. :)

Why doesn’t Edmonton give him a shot?

    • yourmomcantspell - Oct 17, 2013 at 11:52 AM

Because in November month it is a minus 32.

  6. 2qswing - Oct 17, 2013 at 8:31 AM

Based on what we are seeing from the 2013-14 Flyers, 19-17-3-1 looks pretty good. Mason’s playing really well. Flyers just stink …plain and simple.

    • thailer35 - Oct 17, 2013 at 8:47 AM

Yes, but now they stink for a lot cheaper.

      • 2qswing - Oct 17, 2013 at 9:39 AM

        good point LOL

  7. blue21c - Oct 17, 2013 at 10:11 AM

Bryzwasteov still unsigned. Gee what a surprise!!!! Couldn’t even catch on with an ECHL team

  8. kastout11 - Oct 17, 2013 at 12:04 PM

I hope Bryz catches on with a team in the NHL. He is certainly not an elite goaltender, but he is an NHL caliber goaltender. The Flyers defense did him no favors over the last 2 years. I am sure Steve Mason van vouch for that this year. He is standing on his head to keep them in games, but it appears that this year their offense stinks too.

  9. skr213 - Oct 17, 2013 at 2:02 PM

I’m baffled at why he didn’t get signed to the Las Vegas ECHL team. Anyone with info on the reason??

    • darksidecowboy - Oct 17, 2013 at 3:14 PM

Pretty sure they offered him a contract for 100K a year, but he’s waiting for a real offer from the NHL. Plus he can still get conditioning and have his name in the media. His agent probably recommended the whole thing from the beginning, and it could work if Edmonton or another team bites.
