With regular starter Niklas Backstrom day-to-day with a knee injury, Minnesota has recalled goalie Darcy Kuemper from AHL Iowa.

Kuemper, 23, will reportedly back up Josh Harding when the Wild hosts Winnipeg tonight.

Minnesota (0-1-2) is still looking for its first victory, making tonight’s game against the division-rival Jets a relatively important one.

Harding played well in relief of Backstrom on Tuesday, stopping 19 of 20 shots in a 3-2 loss.

Backstrom back at it again. Nobody dogs it like he does.

Playoff pressure? Ouch! I hurt my groin!
Not getting off to a good start? My knee!!

That’s funny, backstrom had sports hernia surgery after the season because of the injury before the playoffs. Think before you speak.
