Alex Burrows didn’t practice Friday, but the Canucks’ forward is tentatively expected in the lineup tomorrow at home to the Oilers, according to Vancouver head coach John Tortorella.

Per Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy, Burrows was given a maintenance day today after getting hurt in last night’s 4-1 loss in San Jose.

Burrows was reportedly “limping badly” after the Sharks game, possibly a result of blocking a shot during a 5-on-3 penalty kill in the second period.

If Burrows can’t go tomorrow, it would leave the Canucks short two wingers, as Zack Kassian still has four games remaining on his suspension.

Vancouver also plays Sunday in Calgary.

“It’s just a bruise, walk it off” -Torts

You know John Tortorella do you? Were you in the dressing room when he said that?
Give the guy the same chance you would expect if you were starting a new job!

The guy has a knack for alienating his players. He’s done it everywhere he’s been. He’ll get the most out of his team for a bit but he will grind you up and then ask why arent you going harder. This and the Schroeder its not a broken bone, the xray machine wasnt working. Its a bruise until we get back. Ok its a hairline fracture incident are prime examples. He’s putting Burrows in a no win situation. He’s pressuring a player to play in game 2 of 82 through the media. Torts could easily say we’ll see how he feels tomorrow. Burrows doesnt feel pressure from fans or media. Behind the scenes Torts could say Alex, I know youre hurting but all these games count I need you to try and give it a go. Putting his players in a position like this is not a good way to start a job.
