Video: Clowe has spirited fight in Devils debut

Oct 3, 2013, 8:26 PM EDT

Ryan Clowe — New Jersey’s big free agent acquisition this offseason — made his presence felt in his first game with the Devils by engaging in a good tilt with Pittsburgh’s Tanner Glass late in the opening period of Thursday’s game:

Frustrations were high for the Devils as Pittsburgh dominated proceedings. Goals from Chuck Kobasew and Sidney Crosby gave the Pens a 2-0 lead just 12 minutes into the game, and Pittsburgh out-shot New Jersey 12-6 in the first frame.

Clowe’s cut is probably a nick from his helmet? Try probably from Tanner Glass’s left fist! (:24). Was this the home broadast?

Clowe’s a tank. Good for Glass for standing in. Wasn’t any reason at all to have to drop them there, Salvador has been in the league 89 years and knows what he’s doing as far as turning his back before a hit.

As an aside I guess the players’ embellishing on boarding is going to continue this year – I saw it repeatedly last night (on both sides, not called). The hit on Sutter should have been called though.
