Video: Caps’ Hillen hurt on Bouma hit, Wilson jumps in to scrap

Hillen

Not much went right for Washington in its second game of the season.

Prior to Braden Holtby getting yanked after allowing three goals on 11 shots, Caps defenseman Jack Hillen was knocked out of the game on this hit from Calgary’s Lance Bouma:

As the video shows, Bouma was immediately challenged to a scrap by rookie forward Tom Wilson, the club’s first-round selection (16th overall) at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Hillen, 27, left the game immediately and won’t return, according to the Caps.

It’s a tough blow for the veteran defenseman -- last year, he missed over half the season (25 games) with an upper-body injury.
