Video: Blackhawks raise 2013 Stanley Cup banner

Oct 1, 2013, 9:25 PM EDT

The Chicago Blackhawks finished off their 2013 Stanley Cup victory lap on Tuesday, raising another championship banner to the rafters before their season-opener against the Washington Capitals.

Check out video of that glitzy ceremony in the video below:

The way they’ve played so far, it’s not crazy to imagine Chicago hosting a similar party in October 2014.

Im tired of hearing about them repeating. It has not even been 2 periods and it’s a tie game…

It was like a minute for every second it took to beat the Bruins. 17 minutes seems like a long ceremony.

    Thought so….Hawks win!

I agree it was a really well done ceremony. I’m amazed by how they were able to get those images to appear on the entire ice sheet. All the images and photos that appeared on the entire ice sheet were so crisp and colorful. Does anyone know how they were able to do that? I don’t think it was beaming from the hanging scoreboard/media unit, but who knows, maybe it was.

FYI: The Blackhawks did the same thing re projecting images across the ice for the 2010 SC banner raising ceremony too. That time since they purged 40% of the roster because of the capocalypse while they were showing the season recap video on the scoreboard they were also flashing images of the season across ice and made especial note to focus on the players who were gone. What made it so PERFECT was they played the Vitamin String Quartet’s version of “With or Without You”—it was all too gorgeous, memorable, and moving.

Dude that video is freakin’ AWESOME! Great music, I totally agree. Thanks for sharing. The Hawks media folks really know what they’re doing. Classy organization. That was cool that they at least acknowledged the folks who got let go. I got chills when I was watching the video that they played during the SC banner raising ceremony this year. It’s too bad Bolland couldn’t have been at that on-ice ceremony, but it’s good to see him doing well w/ the Leafs at least.

You think Leonis lobbied for the Caps to open in Chicago. Maybe the hype will inspire the under achieving caps bring their game up ( OV included) a few notches.

I was an intern with the Blackhawks PR/Community Relations department (there were only a few people in it back in 04), and it was great to see them bring out some of the front office people who work their butts off onto the ice. I was really glad to see Tony Ommen and Troy (long time equipment manager) get to get out there for some public recognition. Both are great guys, and work their tails off. Classy move by the organization to see some credit given to the guys behind the scenes. They might not be the players, but it is their life’s work too. Overall, as a ‘Hawks fan, I loved what they did last night.
