Video: Jets’ Scheifele scores nifty backhander

Sep 26, 2013, 10:54 PM EDT

Winnipeg Jets prospect Mark Scheifele is at an interesting fork in the road: he could very well be the team’s second-line center or he might not even make the team. Perhaps he should just play this goal from Thursday’s 3-2 OT preseason loss to the Boston Bruins on a loop to convince the Jets’ brass:

The Winnipeg Free Press’ Gary Lawless believes that Scheifele, 20, cemented his status with the Jets – including possibly edging Olli Jokinen for that second pivot spot – and that Jacob Trouba could be full-time, too.

We’ll find out soon enough.

I hope he lights it up this year but I am not a believer yet.

I agree. I still think he has a lot to learn and work on, but he will definitely be on the Jets roster this year, and will be a damn good hockey player in 2-3 years time.

Between Scheif and Trouba, things are looking up. Trouba has looked awesome.

It was a pretty sweet goal, but IMO, Eriksson’s OT skate to stick and top shelf was even better.

I hear that. At first I thought, ‘wow, great goal, Loui got that puck up so fast’. My second thought was, ‘that pass was behind him (had to be), how’d he do that’ and noticed the fancy foot work.

Fun game, Jets are no pushovers and the Bruins look they are ready to make a run again.

Yeah, no doubt. Even back when they were in Atlanta the Bruins always had close games with them.
