Vancouver’s Weise suspended for preseason

Sep 23, 2013, 6:49 PM EDT

The NHL suspended Vancouver Canucks forward Dale Weise for the remainder of the 2013 preseason for a high hit on Edmonton Oilers winger Taylor Hall, the Vancouver Province’s Ben Kuzma reports.

Here’s the video explanation:

While Zack Kassian‘s able to sidestep possible retribution for several months with his five-game suspension, Weise might just have to answer for that hit pretty soon, as the Canucks host the Oilers on Oct. 5 (the second game of the regular season).

That’s assuming that Weise, 25, is in the regular rotation, of course.

Yep! It was a head shot for certain. It never ceases to amaze me how NHL is willing to hand out suspensions for head shots, but let players punch themselves in the head.

At least you can continue commenting while showing concussion-like symptoms.

“While Kassian’s able to sidestep possible retribution for several months…”

Ha ha. Did you not see the last time Kassian and Eager fought? Kassian doesn’t need to sidestep a thing.

Big Mac is in the line up now. Not that I care either way – but Kassian is really not that great a fighter – wins about half, as long as he isn’t fighting, well…fighters. Good size and that’s about it. Turning into a liability for a team that really just needs to shut up and play hockey.

I think Kassian needs to side-step Big Mac. If he holds his own with him, I’ll eat those words. I think he’d get his face knocked off.
