Laich (hip flexor) practices with Caps

Washington forward Brooks Laich was back practicing with his Capitals teammates today, one week after a reported left hip flexor injury (not related to the groin issues he had last season) caused him to depart after just 10 minutes of the club’s first on-ice session of training camp.

Per the Washington Post, Laich was playing left wing today on a line with center Mikhail Grabovski and right wing Troy Brouwer. (The Post calls the trio a “feasible second-line possibility.”)

The Caps have five preseason games remaining, starting Friday versus Chicago. When Laich sees action isn’t clear at this point.

Pretty nice second unit if he can stay healthy.

Does that mean they’re planning to pin Erat on the third line? I wonder how he thinks about that? I always though the Caps were going to place Laich on the third line as the center.
