Philadelphia Flyers tough guy Zac Rinaldo suffered an upper-body injury during Sunday’s preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs (which the Leafs ended up winning 4-3). GM Paul Holmgren announced that Rinaldo, 23, is considered day-to-day.

It’s possible that Rinaldo was shaken up thanks to a hit by Leafs winger Jamie Devane, as the Toronto Sun’s Rob Longley described.

Injuries have been an issue here and there for Rinaldo, as his 2013 season was plagued by injuries to his legs, particularly a thigh laceration.

The good news is that it’s listed as a day-to-day issue, for now, but we’ll see if it ends up being a serious problem.

It’s too bad bc Rinaldo was probably the most active Flyer last night. He was flying around, and even making plays in the offensive zone. Gill, Read, Cousins, and especially Stolarz also looked really good as well. It’s looking like they made the right decision with Stolarz, a 6’6′ goalie with lightning quick reflexes. Some of his kick saves were pretty spectacular.

It more than likely happened when Jesse Blacker almost put him through the boards with a solid hip check. The game looked more like an OHL game to me, but it was the first exhibition game so no complaints. Gibson posting the shutout while he played was nice to see even if it was for just half the game. Kadri had a beautiful goal. It would be nice for Leaf fans to see him get going right from the get go. For the Flyers, I thought that Nick Cousins game was something that should make them smile. He was definitely a standout.
