Another day, another ex-Devil rejoining the organization.
This time it’s three-time Stanley Cup winner Sergei Brylin, who has accepted an assistant coaching job with the Devils’ AHL affiliate in Albany.
Brylin, 39, spent his entire 13-year NHL career in New Jersey and is one of only five Devils to have played on each of the championship teams in 1995, 2000 and 2003 (the others: Martin Brodeur, Scott Niedermayer, Scott Stevens and Ken Daneyko).
As mentioned, GM Lou Lamoriello is big on keeping former Devils in the family.
There are currently three ex-players on the NHL coaching stauff (Stevens, Chris Terreri, Dave Barr) and former bench boss Jacques Lemaire still works as a special assignment coach.
Down in Albany, Brylin will work alongside another familiar face -- former defenseman Tommy Albelin, who is also an assistant with the baby Devils.
