Hockey Canada to unveil Olympic jerseys Oct. 8

Sep 6, 2013, 4:57 PM EDT

Hockey Canada announced today that, on Oct. 8, it will unveil and launch the jerseys that the country’s men’s, women’s and sledge hockey teams will wear at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

The timing of the announcement may be telling, given yesterday’s purported leak. And it’s worth noting that Hockey Canada did not deny the sweater worn by Jonathan Toews below is one of the official ones.

Reviews for the jersey have been mixed; however, it’s got at least one fan in Canadian golfer Graham DeLaet.

Yea, Nike is ruining these uniforms…one country at a time.

Well the fake laces are just as bad, but I gotta be honest, way better than USA’s.

If by ‘way’ you mean one less dry heave, then yes…way better.

I didn’t dislike them at first and then someone on /r/hockey mentioned they look like pajama tops and now I can’t shake the image. The crest isn’t awful but it seems the actual tailoring of these jerseys (the fake laces being the prime example) is just bad. When paired with the minimalistic designs they’re going for… just makes them look tacky.

I guess the devil is in the details on this one for me, at first glance I didn’t mind it but as I looked closer and noticed the detailing around the neck and shoulders. Not so much.

Having said that, Luongo said today that the players were shown three different jerseys so … I suppose there’s hope still?

(but yea still better than the US)

Man, Toews looks thrilled to be wearing that monstrosity, isn’t he?

Haha first thing I thought as well, his expression is priceless

I’d hate to see Nike get the NHL Jersey deal

    • letsgocaps88 - Sep 7, 2013 at 7:05 AM

Nike use to make the NHL jerseys but that was probably before you became a Pittsburgh fan :-D

are you kidding me….looks like one of those “lick em and stick em” tattoos we used to put on our arms when we were kids….lol

At least the symbol doesn’t look like a giant police badge. USA I’m looking at you…

Why do they let Nike of all companies do these? Nothing says Olympic spirit like hockey sweaters made in asian sweatshops.

Team Canada’s and Team USA’s sweaters are the worst they ever had. I thought the bedazzled stars on the USA’s were bad. Canada’s bedazzle maple leafs make those stars look good.

This might be a good olympics to watch in low-definition.

What jersey? The tape job on that stick is terrible. :-) I like the two color jersey as opposed to the three color one with black being an extra color, and the design is a near replica of the flag. Why give a sh*t about fake laces if indeed they are fake laces?

  13. pavelfitzgerald - Sep 7, 2013 at 11:46 AM

Not as awful as the American jerseys but still pretty awful.
Does every jersey have the fake “stick-on” laces on the front? Like wtf?!?!?
Someone actually got paid to say “you know what all these jerseys are missing? Some fake stick-on laces on the front. Yeah, those would be awesome!!”

Does Toews face not say it all?

That happens when Nike gets invoked

    YES, LESS IS MORE !

Absolutely ‘spot on’ I say, as this lovely design combines the element of ‘simplicity’ with that universally acknowledged message of ‘hope and decency’ which is the spirit and bottom line ‘essence’ of North America … the American uniforms are also ‘fabulous’ in my opinion … “10/10″ from the House of Blomfeld !

ps: and by the way, GO KINGS GO eh ? :)
