About two-thirds of PHT voters choose Toews over Kane

Sep 2, 2013, 10:26 PM EDT

Patrick Kane won the most recent Conn Smythe Trophy and didn’t face the same playoff goal-scoring struggles as his partner in crime, but PHT readers spoke in droves: if forced to choose between Chicago Blackhawks superstars, they’d take Jonathan Toews.

As you can see from the results, about two out of every three voters tabbed Toews.

Again, it’s tough to imagine such a scenario, but it’s interesting – if not all that surprising – that Toews took the most votes.

Hey, when you consider Corey Crawford‘s contract extension … you never know.

It’s 50-50 for me. They both disappear for 90% of their playoff runs. JT is the captain though, so obviously he has a slightly higher vote.

Umm, what?? Take a look at their playoff stats my friend….or do you prefer video highlights as evidence?? If anybody fails to show up for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it’s your embarrassing San Jose Snarks.

Toews playoff production is not stellar.

That being said the guy is a safe bet to contribute at one end of the ice at least, and the fact of the matter is that unless your name is Crosby or Malkin you are going to go dry during the playoffs on a pretty regular basis.

It’s why teams like Chicago that have four or more guys who can shoulder the load end up winning championships, and teams like Vancouver don’t. ( :( )

Now do a poll on who would most likely give the consoling victors hand shake to the other if they met in the playoffs after they were separated. Love to see the result of that poll.

Pure class, exceptional skill and unwavering aplomb …

anyone who doesn’t agree with that assessment of Captain Jonathan Toews is an ‘idiot’ and he or she should be ‘interviewed’ by the appropriate authorities asap ! … much like comrades Quick and Doughty, Jonathan Toews is a wonderful man who exemplifies what this game is ‘meant’ to be all about … the imagery of Toews last June being tossed about like some ‘rag doll’ by that radio-active freak from Turkmenistan (Chara) still haunts me to this day … but thank God friends, ‘decency’ and comrade Toews carried the day in the end !

summary: the LA Kings & Chicago Blackhawks are by far the two ‘greatest’ teams of all !!! :)

      Blom,

I assume, then, that we’ll be seeing Mr. Toews somewhere above Alex Ovenchicken on your prestigious best-goalie list?

Im still laughing after reading the Shark fan commenting that a two time winner of the Cup disappears during the playoffs. People in glass houses…

I’ll pull a Chicago and take both.

While Toews had a sub par playoffs this year by his own standards, there is no other center I would want on my team than him. He is gifted on both ends of ice. Kane every now and then needs a kick in the pants to get going but is an electrifying player than has some of the best hands in hockey. Only flaw…. Defense. But to say either one of the didn’t show up for 90% of the playoffs is uneducated at best.

Johnny Toews might not have the flashiest goals or be an offensive juggernaut his compadre may be, but he is still the superior player. Kane has the hands of a magician when the puck is on his tape but Toews is the much better two way player. Not only is his faceoff numbers incredible but his point production is stellar. Toews is also captain clutch and this goal has to be the utmost epitome of his will to win.
