Luongo: ‘In a way, I’m kind of lucky’

In the first two parts of his exclusive interview with TSN’s James Duthie, Roberto Luongo laid out the range of his emotions dealing with all of the trade drama with the Vancouver Canucks.

Part three introduces more mixed feelings, as he shares some sympathy for Cory Schneider, who once again finds himself in a platoon situation alongside Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.

“I kinda feel bad for him because he deserves to be a starter and he’s going to have to wait now with Marty there still,” Luongo said. “In a way I’m kinda lucky because I get to start and play, which is all you can ask for at this point.”

(The “at this point” underscores Luongo’s frustration quite well, doesn’t it?)

Luongo states his belief that Schneider, 27, is ready to be a superstar in the NHL.

He also (almost) confirms his Twitter avatar, acknowledges his goal to start for Team Canada and much more, so click here to watch part three of the exclusive interview.

Way to go Lu…..keep these stories a coming and keep baiting these haters and Cornfield all season long. They’ll soon choke on their own verbal diarrhoea trying to keep up with you

GOD SURE ACTS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS EH ?

Yet ‘act’ he does friends, as ‘decency’ and the ‘right thing’ will always carry the day in the end … no two ways about it. Yeah sure, only now does the Italian ‘tweeter’ start to venture out from his ‘closet of cowardice’ after the coast is clear … like, who would have guessed that ? Well ‘hear this’ all of you Luongo lovers and apologists and ‘hear this’ loud and clear ! When Christmas rolls around and your man is facing ‘ever-mounting’ losses coupled with a GAA that’s northward of 6.00, you people are going to look more stupid than some Dairy Queen sales rep peddling his goods in Antarctica !

GO KINGS GO (including Martin Luther Jr) !!! … TODAY, TOMORROW AND FOREVER !!!!!!!

Also kind of lucky that having lost his starter’s job to Schneider, Lu got it handed right back without having to earn it. I hope the evident decline in his play over the last few seasons was because his feelings were hurt, not because age is catching up.

My sense is these interviews basically split Canucks fans down the middle. Half think the starting job was wrongly pulled from Luongo and was a sign of disrespect, the other half think Lu is a petulant child for thinking he’s entitled to the job.
