Habs ink Tokarski to two-way deal

dustintokarskigetty

The Montreal Canadiens bolstered their AHL-level goalie depth on Monday, signing Dustin Tokarski to a one-year, two-way deal.

The 23-year-old has seven games of NHL experience in his career, all of which came with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He’s gone 1-3-1 in those contests, registereing a 3.54 GAA and .871 save percentage.

Tokarski enjoyed a nice AHL season in 2012-13. After amassing a great 18-8-4 record but pedestrian individual numbers in 33 games with the Syracuse Crunch, he managed a .927 save percentage in 15 contests with the Hamilton Bulldogs (although his record was 6-8-0).

Montreal is set in net for the next two seasons. Carey Price carries the contract of a franchise goalie while Peter Budaj is locked up for the next two seasons.

Still, it never hurts to have a guy with some experience if needed, even if Tokarski’s only really had a cup of coffee at the NHL level.
