PHT readers believe Rangers have the easiest schedule

One can look at the NHL’s 2013-14 schedule in many ways, but poll results from last weekend makes one thing clear: a lot of PHT readers believe that the New York Rangers have things pretty easy next season.

The Rangers took 40.82 percent of the votes (718 of 1,759), more than the rest of the top five combined:

As you can see, voters believe that the Detroit Red Wings will enjoy life in the East while the Chicago Blackhawks are believed to enjoy the easiest path in the West.

For what it’s worth, here’s a quick snapshot of the top five team’s schedule, thanks to numbers compiled by On the Forecheck:

Rangers: 29,839 miles traveled, 13 back-to-backs
Detroit: 35,324 miles, 15 BtB
Chicago: 38,680 miles, 18 BtB
Buffalo: 34,812 miles, 13 BtB
Pittsburgh: 37,061 miles, 17 BtB

For those who have a beef with the Rangers’ schedule, they do face some challenges. Most obviously, they start off the season with nine consecutive road contests, which is especially tough since they’ll be adjusting to new head coach Alain Vigneault.

In case you’re curious, here are the five teams who received the lowest amount of easiest schedule votes:
