Preds think Filip Forsberg has elite offensive potential

The Nashville Predators invested quite a bit in the forward position in free agency, yet most - if not all - of their acquisitions fit the team’s blueprint of two-way players.

Ultimately, it seems as if the franchise will count on young scorers to fill the net, then.

Assuming he makes the Predators roster as a full-time player after appearing in five games last season, Filip Forsberg could be a big part of that picture, as CSNWashington.com reports.

The Predators gushed about the 18-year-old’s potential following his debut in April.

“He’s both a goal scorer and he’s a disher,” Predators assistant general manager Paul Fenton told USA Today. “He’s an all-around player that has possibly elite offensive talent, so I would not descriptively say he does one or the other better. I would say he does both equally as well, so when you really look at it, we have a complete player here.”

It remains to be seen if he’ll stick with the team full-time in 2013-14, although it sounds likely being that he was dropped from Sweden’s World Junior Championships roster on Friday.
