Raymond’s agent thinks it will take time to sign with new team

A quick glance at the list of remaining unrestricted free agents doesn’t show many former 25-goal scorers. And it certainly doesn’t show many former 25-goal scorers under the age of 30.

Mason Raymond falls into both those categories though. The 27-year-old scored 25 times for the Canucks in 2009-10. Since then, however, it’s been a tough time for the speedy-but-slight winger. A serious back injury suffered in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. Stretches of inconsistent play. Now, he’s looking for a new team.

Raymond’s agent, JP Barry, tells News 1130 Sports in Vancouver there’s been plenty of interest from potential suitors, but it may take time before an acceptable offer is made.

In 2013, Raymond had 10 goals in 46 games.

“I think I’ll have some good discussions about Mason,” Barry told The Province recently. “He’s got a lot of speed and he had a good season. Also, the UFA market is not a deep one this year.”

Which means he is asking too much….

  2. ntvd7 - Jul 22, 2013 at 12:14 PM

I’m sure he’ll find a new team to “dive” into…

Worst comment of the year…hands down. Although I am not a fan of his production, Raymond has never been a “diver”. Additionally, I like to see how tough you are with a broken back (that by the way happened 150 feet away from the play). So GFY ntvd7.

        Wah wah wah

What does “being 150 feet away from the play” have to do with anything?

        Syntax kid, learn it…

Said the guy whose post literally translates into, “The panda the panda the panda.”

      • ntvd7 - Jul 22, 2013 at 2:31 PM

        Don’t you go insulting pandas…

“Wah” = The sound of you crying like a little girl

Vancouver’s roster is full of little girls so you fit right in :)

        Actually it has two meanings:

        1) The Panda
        2) A city in Pakistan

But I wasn’t the one who started the grammer war.

I still feel a little guilt for screaming at Mr Ramond to get up in Game 6. I just figured another diva Cunuck…lol He was a mess .He never should have been skated to bench. Poor kid couldn’t even move his legs. Good luck kid

    Come to SJ ! , !

    • kingcobraman - Jul 22, 2013 at 4:25 PM

SJ already has Havlat to open and close the door to the bench, hand out drinks and towels or does SJ want one for each end of the bench ?

Hard to understand these guys like Raymond and Brunner, holding out for more money, ensuring that they will probably land with a team that will be in desperate straights and have unrealistic expectations. Raymond scored 25 goals once in his career and last year he was on a pace for 15-17 goals and 38/39 points. He’s been hurt a lot. He’s a very good third line guy, but when he plays against the other team’s top lines and top d-men, he is a lot less visible.

Good Luck to him but he must be really asking for too much if he is still unsigned.
