Apparently the Bruins Bieber-proofed their locker room (Update: No, they didn’t)

Jul 21, 2013, 7:56 PM EDT

Earlier this month, Justin Bieber caused a stir when he posed with the Stanley Cup in the Chicago Blackhawks locker room. Surprisingly, it wasn’t because he was wearing this:

source:

Instead, the Blackhawks were upset that the pop star stood on the Blackhawks logo, as you can see from Andrew Shaw‘s reaction:

That set the table for Saturday, as ESPN Boston reports that the Bruins went as far as to rope off the spoked-B logo in their locker room in fear that Bieber might tarnish their sacred logo while preparing for a concert.

TSN Radio 1050 shares a photo of the “No Bieber zone.”

source:

Hey, the Bruins didn’t win their series against the Blackhawks, but at least they won the protecting their logo battle, right?

In related news, CSNPhilly.com’s Sarah Baicker reveals that Bieber doesn’t have to worry about that Blackhawks logo incident tarnishing his name among his fanatics:

That’s a relief.

Update: It’s an old picture. (Probably the rope is there to keep the media off the logo, as the Bruins’ dressing room is one of the smallest in the NHL.)

Yeah, I think they already Bieber-proofed their locker room when they didn’t win Lord Stanley’s Cup.

    That’s CSNPhilly not Chicago

  8. proudliberal85392 - Jul 21, 2013 at 9:22 PM

Maybe they were afraid he’d pee on the logo.

Get ready for Chase Utley to win the QB battle for the Eagles..

  10. garagehero1 - Jul 21, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Haha, not only do the hawks have bieber as a fan, they also have the gayest goal-song in the NHL….

    • orangandblack - Jul 21, 2013 at 10:24 PM

Don’t forget to mention 2 cups in the last 4 years (and I’m far from a hawks fan)

  11. drmcsexy - Jul 21, 2013 at 10:13 PM

The whole don’t step on the logo is beyond ridiculous. If you don’t want people to step on something, don’t put it on the floor. This is just as dumb as don’t step on the base lines when walking out to play defense, don’t mention the no hitter or you’ll jinx it. Silly.

    • soldierone - Jul 21, 2013 at 11:07 PM

It’s a sign of respect and team work, believing in the team. Of course most lazy arses can’t comprehend that and just go “Whys it on the floor then!!!!”

      • drmcsexy - Jul 22, 2013 at 2:14 AM

How is not stepping on a small piece of carpet “team work”?

If you want to talk about respect, would you just put a something that meant a lot to you on the floor? No, you wouldn’t.

It’s not about being lazy, it’s just about being practical, if you don’t want something to be stepped on, don’t put it in a place where it can be stepped on. It’s pretty damn simple.

I don’t understand how a logo on the ground has anything to do with respect, if you step on it, will it in anyway effect your performance on the ice? Does it make you any less of a team player? Would you rather have a 50 goal scorer than doesn’t care about stupid superstitions or tradition, or some grinder who has “respect” who abides by these silly unwritten rules?

    • joey4id - Jul 22, 2013 at 6:16 AM

You’re correct on all counts, and funny to boot. However, your logic won’t convince the ones who are religious about the logo. Sad I know, but true. The LOGO for some seems to be as important as the flag, yet it’s only a symbol. BTW, I agree that it shouldn’t be on the floor in the middle of the the room. It’s ok to skate on it at center ice, but don’t step on it in the dressing room. LOL

  12. soldierone - Jul 21, 2013 at 11:06 PM

You know whats funny? They probably didn’t do this for Bieber, a lot of teams block it off when the team isn’t in the room or concerts go through….. a little research goes a long way.

    • Anoesis - Jul 22, 2013 at 10:03 AM

But it’s way funnier this way. Things that have no real-world impact, like this, don’t need “research,” just a sense of humor.

    A PERFECT MATCH

The bottom line is that Justin Bieber is the ‘ideal’ standard bearer for today’s shallow and artificial world … and the more popular he becomes, the harder one has to laugh ! The idiot is completely void of any ‘real’ talent, as evidenced by the fact that nobody can name just one of the little goof’s ‘computer-generated’ songs, even if their life depended on it ! The whole thing is truly pathetic and it’s a shame that this is what the world is coming to. Nonetheless, I do find it fitting how this ‘ersatz’ nerd is being tied to the ‘ersatz’ Hawk’s victory this year … a ‘perfect match’ one could say. Regardless, 2013-14 is going to be a ‘full’ 82 x game campaign and we all know what happened the last time they had that eh ? :)

Why was she askin them about the eagles?

  15. northstarnic - Jul 22, 2013 at 1:38 AM

    Please, no more bieber articles.

  16. mclovinhockey - Jul 22, 2013 at 9:56 AM

She was asking about the Eagles cause this was for CSNPhilly, not Chicago. She is a Flyers Journalist called Puck Lady (at least that’s what I have her as as a friend on Facebook).

Every team boxes off their logo when the locker room is not in use. Stepping on the logo is a sign of disrespect to the team. That’s why Tim Thomas did it to Boston before leaving the Bruins.

  17. footballer4ever - Jul 22, 2013 at 10:03 AM

Justin Bieber, the media attention whore! You are in the “right@ path to whore stardom, buddy!

  18. Anoesis - Jul 22, 2013 at 10:04 AM

What’s with the dopey over-sized glasses?

  19. giantssb42champs - Jul 22, 2013 at 1:10 PM

At least the bruins don’t have to worry about Bieber-proofing Seguin anymore.
