Photo: Jonathan Toews waterskiing with the Cup

Jul 20, 2013, 8:15 PM EDT

Saturday is Jonathan Toews‘ (second) day with the Stanley Cup, so he decided to bring it to hometown Winnipeg once more.

It’s likely that his personal highlights came from sharing the moment with family, friends and the community, yet this photo of the 25-year-old star waterskiing (via keeper of the Cup Philip Pritchard) provides the most entertainment for the rest of us:

Perhaps that whole “Toews is boring” thing is a little overblown?

Want more from his day with the greatest trophy in sports? Watch the video below.

    No one cares

    • jcmeyer10 - Jul 20, 2013 at 9:23 PM

I’m as bummed as the next guy as a B’s fan but it’s hard to hate this guy. Plus, it’s not like they are ignoring the minor signings. This is what happens during the off season. Boring news makes the grade.

With all kidding aside, the only thing that people ‘want or need’ to know at this point is the fact that our glorious LA Kings are the ‘current’ reigning Stanley Cup Champions! Much like some pot bellied ‘no name’ winning a ‘weather shortened’ 36 hole tournament on the PGA Tour, nobody cares about this *asterisk* laden victory by the Hawks. We LA Kings are the undisputed reigning ‘best’ and next season can’t now come soon enough, when we’ll prove to the world yet again that there’s a reason why we’re referred to as ‘Kings’ !

GO KINGS GO !!! … TODAY, TOMORROW AND FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • captncarl - Jul 21, 2013 at 11:49 PM

So you are saying that the teams that won the cup before this 72 game schedule are not champions? Go sit on an asterisk! The Kings Suck just like the City of LA and California do!

  2. LampyB - Jul 20, 2013 at 9:21 PM

This isn’t nearly as entertaining as you make it out to be. Pretty boring actually.

    • missthemexpos - Jul 20, 2013 at 9:39 PM

Would have been more entertaining if he was holding on to the cup as he was waterskiing.

  3. hookersdontsnuggle - Jul 20, 2013 at 9:47 PM

    He’s not water skiing.

I wonder what those people sitting there are thinking.

  5. rgledz - Jul 20, 2013 at 10:32 PM

Hey kingsforever…….jealousy is a bitter pill huh?

    • blomfeld - Jul 21, 2013 at 2:27 AM

Listen pal, if anyone’s jealous around here then that would be you and your fellow Metropolitans ! We LA Kings won the Stanley Cup the way it was meant to be won, as ‘men’ beating everyone based on a ‘full’ 82 x game schedule. To me, your victory this year equals nothing more than some ‘lame’ Justin Bieber song. For the ‘real’ deal, people will always look to things like Elvis and the LA Kings … that’s just the way it is man :)

      • theageofquarrel - Jul 21, 2013 at 9:20 AM

If the Kings are so great then why do they only have one Stanley Cup? And why did it take almost 40 years since their inception to finally win it?

      • paledevil - Jul 21, 2013 at 2:35 PM

Rest Assured dear friend we will deal with the Men in Black the same way we did before ……

      • titansrbeast - Jul 21, 2013 at 3:32 PM

So let me get this right, before the Kings made it to the final all I heard about was how you guys were going to repeat. Why did you guys care so much if it didn’t matter this year? I think it did matter, a lot. And you Kings fans have to try and justify to yourself that losing is ok because it was a shorter season. Give me a break, the Hawks dusted you guys like it was nothing and showed the rest of the league that when you stick to your game and play fast offensively AND play good defense, you pretty much can’t lose 4 times. If the Kings would have won, you would have been rubbing it in. Now that they didn’t, you have to pretend like you don’t care…it’s ok, we know you do. Btw I’m not even a Hawks fan I just think your comment is a joke.

    • comeonnowguys - Jul 21, 2013 at 9:29 AM

Kings played the same schedule. And got their asses handed to them by this same team. I wonder what you would have said if the Kings had won. Here’s a hint:

      LA KINGS: DYNASTY!!!!!!!!

So knock off the asterisk talk. I leave you with Jonathan Quick’s most favorite song in the world.

  6. kingsfan93 - Jul 20, 2013 at 10:35 PM

This is just boring news that NO ONE (unless you’re a Chi. fan) cares about.

Also, there is a lot of people on that one little ski boat.

    • blomfeld - Jul 21, 2013 at 2:33 AM

a flotation conveyance ‘teeming’ with infidels ?

  7. tgtatro - Jul 21, 2013 at 12:04 AM

It’s not water skiing, it’s wake boarding fools!

  8. jhuck92 - Jul 21, 2013 at 12:37 AM

Jets fans and players (Evander Kane in particular) must be pissed right now.

  9. blomfeld - Jul 21, 2013 at 12:55 AM

Of course fellow historians and lovers of the ‘current’ reigning Stanley Cup Champion LA Kings will know only too well that despite the fact that Jonathan Toews is ‘good’ people, this ‘orchestrated’ stunt coupled with the **asterisk** attached to the Hawk’s cup victory this year amounts to nothing more than a bunch of tennis balls being lobbed at the 12′ armor belt of battleship Bismarck ! (ie: the Los Angeles Kings). Next year will be a ‘real’ year with an 82 x game schedule, where only a ‘real’ champion can emerge victorious (ie: the Los Angeles Kings). So God bless Jonathan Toews as he ‘means well’ no doubt, however he and the rest of the Metropolitan Division had better watch out, as we LA KINGS will be on the march again, seeking nothing short of glorious victory ! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

GO KINGS GO !!! … TODAY, TOMORROW AND FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Completely photo shopped. Neither of the chicks’ hair is blowing in the wind. Anyone who’s been on a boat knows that is fake.

  12. foleysfish - Jul 21, 2013 at 5:02 AM

Blomfeld why are you talking so much crap to the team that beat your Kings then beat Boston who was a better team than the Kings to win the Cup for the 2nd time in 4 years. I like the Kings and I am a Die hard Hawks fan. But I hate to tell you but the Kings will not beat anyone in the playoffs if they can’t score more than 2 goals a game. You guys lost one of your best D-men and one of your best power forwards. Kings are a top 5 Team in the league but they need more offense and the Hawks showed you can beat Quick. Can’t win a Stanley Cup Final with just your goalie. Need the whole team as the Hawks showed this year. Example the Hawks 4th line scored the goal to win the Cup. Just stick with the facts not all this BS

  13. robertsds - Jul 21, 2013 at 9:23 AM

    Don’t feed the troll

  14. pavelfitzgerald - Jul 21, 2013 at 10:22 AM

    Does Blomfeld have Aspbergers?

  15. ibieiniid - Jul 21, 2013 at 11:01 AM

asbergers? possibly. a frequent wearer of colorful suspenders and bow ties? most definitely.

  16. 1901wmadison - Jul 21, 2013 at 1:03 PM

Hey guys – give blomfeld a break. Nothing better to do on a Saturday night than take shots at a team that handily showed his kings the door. Maybe some fresh air would help with the delusional thoughts.

  17. blomfeld - Jul 21, 2013 at 1:54 PM

Aside from showing yourselves to be ‘hate-spewing’ trolls, I take it then that you Metropolitans are upset by the fact that we LA Kings are still the ‘current’ reigning Stanley Cup Champions? … is that the deal? Well you guys had better get used to it because that’s the way it is and no amount of ‘hate-spewing’ on your part is ever going to change anything. As you know, the bottom line remains that any sports championship based on a regular season which was reduced by 42% will forever have an *asterisk* attached to it. That may not seem fair but that’s how it is. It’s really no different than a ‘true’ golf score needing to be based on a ‘completed’ round of 18 holes … or a sprinter actually ‘crossing’ the finishing line before claiming victory. Personally I have no quarrel with the Hawks and they were fully deserving of their victory this year in my opinion. But until they can prevail ‘glorious’ based on a full 82 game season, then I will continue to recognize my LA Kings as the ‘current’ reigning Stanley Cup Champions and thus greatest hockey team in the ‘free’ world today !

ps: and save the ugly ‘hatred’ friends, as there is a better way … :)

    • captncarl - Jul 21, 2013 at 11:59 PM

The Kings are not the Stanley Cup Champs and you are delusional! The NHL didn’t start playing 82 games until after 1992 so none of the teams before then are champs according to your BS.

  18. nj666 - Jul 21, 2013 at 2:13 PM

Blomfeld proving that middle school should really be a year round thing… Completely forgetting that the Hawks won the cup 3 years ago with almost the same exact team.

  19. phillyphannn83 - Jul 21, 2013 at 3:22 PM

Girls on a boat not in bikinis?? booooo thumbs down, -1 for Toews, he IS boring.

Side note – that’d be wakeboarding, not waterskiing

  21. pavelfitzgerald - Jul 22, 2013 at 2:03 AM

I’m not trolling, my comment was legitimate. Otherwise I’m not sure what the explanation is for your mis-use of “quotations”, question marks?, Kings delusion’s, obsession with percentages & of course obsession with Elvis

  22. terrier92 - Jul 22, 2013 at 12:12 PM

The kid earned it enjoy it. No way he was not concussed for game 6. A real warrior. I’d take him on the Bruins.
