Thank you, from PHT

Jul 12, 2013, 11:39 AM EDT

It’s been quite the year for us here at PHT. Now, with some time to breathe (no shock retirements today, please), we wanted to take a moment and thank all of you for visiting.

So…thank you.

We always felt they’d find a way to play hockey this year. In the backs of our minds, though, we’ll admit there was that lingering worry we’d still be copying and pasting dueling press releases from the NHL (it’s their fault! something about the rising cost of masseuses) and NHLPA (no, it’s theirs! for the billionth time, we just want to play) into the summer and beyond. Suffice to say, covering a lockout isn’t what sportswriters get into sportswriting to do. We get into it for the free media meals, which we can’t enjoy unless there are games.

Once the season finally got underway, it was pretty much a sprint to now. We won’t bore with you a bunch of website traffic metrics, but we will say that traffic is up. Quite a bit. Also, you may have noticed there are more comments on the site now. We love that. Except when you rip us, in which case we hope it was worth it because your IP address has been blocked. Otherwise, your contributions are greatly appreciated. We all know everyone just scrolls down to the comments anyway.

One last note. PHT headquarters changed addresses in June (which we felt was a good time for a move, because what happens in June anyway?) Special thanks to Roger Williams of Image Media Farm in Vancouver for granting us a temporary location to shoot our award-winning PHT Extra videos.

So anyway, thanks again and we’ll see you all in a couple of months when training camp starts…wait, what?….oh, apparently we have to keep working.

Did Matt Halischuk sign yet?

Yes, he did.

You guys take some heat every once in a while, I can’t say I’m innocent in that contribution, but I appreciate all the work you guys put into keeping this place current with hockey news – next to twitter, you guys always break things as soon as they happen and I love coming here to read about hockey. Thanks!

    • lordfletcher - Jul 12, 2013 at 10:54 PM

Big thanks as well. This is has been a great place to chat, rather than having to deal with TSN’s horrible website.

  2. capitalspowerkill - Jul 12, 2013 at 11:54 AM

I visit this site frequently, but rarely post. This is probably one of my favorite hockey websites(down goes brown is my personal favorite). Thanks for all the hard work! I look forward to what the future holds for this site.

No, thank you guys at PHT! Everytime I wake up this is the first site I go to. Just because this is the sport I love, and we all love. And because you guys are the best with the recent news! So thank you.

i don’t take a morning dump without checking the PHT Morning Skate.

      • orangandblack - Jul 12, 2013 at 1:11 PM

Right there with you. It feels weird to even dump without my phone in hand, reading the lastest updates

  7. modellforprez - Jul 12, 2013 at 12:18 PM

    Great coverage and thank you

  8. jeremyroenickdanceparty - Jul 12, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Thanks for not letting Kabletown ruin you…yet…

  9. Martin Ericsson - Jul 12, 2013 at 12:34 PM

You’re amazing! I’m a sports writer myself (in Swedish, luckily) and PHT has become my Mecca.

Keep up the good work and may the end never come!

  10. ibieiniid - Jul 12, 2013 at 12:43 PM

shhhhhhh. my boss may realize how much time on the clock i spend on this site.

  11. pastabelly - Jul 12, 2013 at 12:53 PM

Jason, you’ve done a great job with this site. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when you came in and feared that we’d see a Canucks love fest here. However, you been very evenhanded and not afraid to take on players, teams, and the NHL suits. Also, continued good luck on the cable side of NBC as well. ESPN, obviously, ignores the sport.

  12. sjsharks66 - Jul 12, 2013 at 12:54 PM

I cant even count the amount of times I have gotten scolded for constantly checking PHT at work. In fact, I’m doing it right now.

    Thanks guys!

  13. vshehane - Jul 12, 2013 at 1:03 PM

I keep you pulled up most of the day for the latest updates. Thanks from Nashville!

  14. 19to77 - Jul 12, 2013 at 1:04 PM

Oh, the work I’d get done if not for you guys. Thank God someone’s here to keep me up to date on hockey instead. Keep up the good work guys, we rag on you sometimes but we like what you do.

  15. thailer35 - Jul 12, 2013 at 1:30 PM

Thank you from Phoenix! (also currently reading at work on the pooper)

    • ibieiniid - Jul 12, 2013 at 1:38 PM

      OHHHHHHH the two-fer.

i always wondered if writers think about the fact that what they’re writing will be read by hundreds of people sitting on toilets. if i was a writer… i’d think about it. oh wait! you maybe just read my comment above while sitting on a toilet. score one for the non-writer.

  16. Stiller43 - Jul 12, 2013 at 2:40 PM

Thank YOU guys. Without this site, all the pens and flyers fans would have to quibble somewhere else.

    • ibieiniid - Jul 12, 2013 at 2:44 PM

i’m gonna go ahead and assume that you’re the a-hole that went down the list and gave every comment a thumbs down. why? because yours doesn’t have one.

  17. pitpenguinsrulez - Jul 12, 2013 at 2:40 PM

What make this site great is that it’s basically one big community of hockey fans who love to disagree and fight over simple thing. Sure you have classic rivalries between fans such as the Pens vs. Flyers etc but in end we all share that same passion for the sport of hockey which all of us love. I check this site quite a lot just to say informed on stuff. I just want hockey to return but until then we have football and baseball…and NASCAR if your a fan.

  18. tfaltin - Jul 12, 2013 at 3:23 PM

I can’t express how much better this site has made my work days. But since we all have to work this summer, how long until the 30 teams in 30 days starts?

  19. jb8383 - Jul 12, 2013 at 3:34 PM

    Thanks PHT!

  20. ndnut - Jul 12, 2013 at 4:12 PM

This site was the number 2 factor in my getting any interest in hockey at all, behind the sudden relevance of my local USHL team. Congrats!

  21. mp1131211 - Jul 12, 2013 at 6:18 PM

Please bore us with site metrics. I would love to know

  22. proudliberal85392 - Jul 12, 2013 at 7:13 PM

You guys do a great job characterized by well-balanced reporting…even though we may sometimes say it isn’t. Thanks for being my go-to hockey site!

  23. proudliberal85392 - Jul 12, 2013 at 7:14 PM

mp1131211 is right. How much increase?

  24. frozengolf - Jul 12, 2013 at 9:10 PM

Great job guys! My first stop on the net is PHT, followed by PFT (Profootballtalk). Keep up the good work!

  25. blomfeld - Jul 13, 2013 at 12:33 AM

I first came to this website in January of last year as an ‘electronic’ refugee from the Orwellian ‘darkness’ which had descended upon the old PGT website courtesy of the fascist Golf Channel corporation … and to this day, I still miss my old friends there talking about Tiger and stuff with excellent people like Lanny, Naegele, Ballengee, etc. But then of course my beloved LA Kings proceeded to go forth and make ‘history’ and I subsequently fell ‘back’ in love with them, while at the same time discovering this wonderful new forum where I could express such feelings of personal joy.

Friends, the best thing about this PHT website is without a doubt the writers, as it’s always ‘people’ who make or break any endeavor or enterprise. In the case of PHT, I would submit to you that people like Brough and company have ‘more’ than carried the day! Thank you PHT for your terrific efforts and may God speed …
