PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Daniel Alfredsson is expected to re-sign with the Ottawa Senators, but other teams are still trying to convince him to play elsewhere. The San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins are reportedly among the teams pursuing him. (Ottawa Sun)

I for one am baffled as to why any GM would want to acquire a first ballot hall of famer.

A couple of pieces here and there over 5 years is not a rebuild.

Would look fantastic on the Bergeron line. Move Seguin up to Krejci’s line where he can really shine as a finisher and get Bergeron and Marchand a true two-way right wing in the mold of an Alfredsson or a Pavelski.

If Garrioch is right and it’s 6mil/1yr than it’s both the Sharks and the Bruins are going to need some cap space.

Garrioch has to be full of it. Alfie’s production isn’t at that level. $4.5m, sure, but six? No way. 10-16-26 in 47 games can’t justify that kind of money.

I can’t see Alfredsson leaving Ottawa to play for someone else in the NHL. Business or not, I think it would rip the heart out of Ottawa fans.
