The Tampa Bay Lightning extended qualifying offers to three players while letting three others hit the unrestricted free agent market on Monday.

Dan Sexton

Players who were not qualified

Benoit Pouliot
Alex Hutchings
Brendan Mikkelson

Pouliot, 26, stands out because he was the fourth pick of the 2005 NHL Draft by Minnesota. Barberio played two games for Tampa Bay last season, Brown played five for the Bolts in 2011-12 and Sexton was a fairly regular fixture with the Anaheim Ducks before being traded.

The deadline for NHL teams to qualify players is Tuesday, so expect quite a few of these announcements (with plenty of depth players becoming free agents).

Oh look, Shills selling garbage have realized that you unprofessional, know-nothings are too lazy to monitor your own blog and have taken up to spread their ads all over your site.

Again, none of this happens of the football or baseball side. They have real writers who know what they are writing about and clean up their blogs.
Again, Bravo on failing yesterday. Draft comes but once a year and 4 lazy guys couldn’t be bothered covering it beyond the 10th overall pick.

NBC should just shut this down, you guys are not worth the bandwidth with the exception of the comedy of seeing yas go 50/50 of players nationality.

Benny….wow…..guy has become a chump. Canadiens will more than likely pick him up.

They have already had him. A few years back, Montreal traded Gui Latendresse to Minnesota for Pouliot. They have each gone through a couple of teams since then. Both of them were first-round picks with good size. I think that they can safely be labeled as “flops” at this point.

Gui wasn’t a flop. He was just injured a lot. Played pretty well with Havlat when he came to St. Paul.

Keep in mind, Benny Pou-pants was also drafted by the same GM who drafted Martin Skoula 4th overall in 05, A.J. Thelen 12th overall in 04, and darn near ruined James Sheppard’s career. Risebrough should never be a GM again in this league. That said, he’d probably fit right in on Intermission Report ;)

I agree that Risebrough is not fit to serve as a GM again, but drafting Skoula is not one of the many reasons why; the Aves drafted him in the late 90′s. Taking Sheppard instead of Giroux, Bernier or Lucic IS one of the many reasons, however.

Whoops, don’t know where that Skoula draft pick came from. Brainfart.
