Hurricanes don’t trade out, pick Lindholm fifth overall

Elias Lindholm

Many of the rumors surrounding Carolina’s day at the draft surrounded them moving the fifth overall selection. Turns out they were happy to stay where they were.

The Hurricanes picked Swedish center Elias Lindholm with the fifth pick and he comes with some solid hype to his game. With Brynas in the Swedish Elite League, he netted 11 goals and 19 assists in 48 games as an 18 year-old.

One comparison Lindholm was getting early on was with Peter Forsberg. If he pans out like that, fans in Carolina are going to be very happy.

There’s been a lot of hype re: trades but zero blockbusters so far.

Should’ve given it 20 more minutes. The Schneider deal has everyone in an uproar.

Yeah. That was a pretty good one.

I was hoping he would fall to 6 to the Flames, but congratulations to Monahan!

Safe pick. I was hoping Barkov fell to us. After 1-3, man I was thinking Jones 5th overall. Nash got em.

I love this player, but as a fan i don’t understand this pick for a team that needs immediate help on D. Sure, he’ll be a great 2-way player in the future, but he’s not even playing in the nhl next year… I hope JR has something up his sleeve. There’s rumors that Skinner is on the block, not sure of the truth to them.
