One of the NHL’s most physical players could be traded this weekend.

According to the Star Tribune’s Michael Russo, Wild winger Cal Clutterbuck is being shopped by Minnesota general manager Chuck Fletcher.

Sources tell Russo that the price for Clutterbuck is a second-round draft pick and a prospect.

Clutterbuck is a restricted free agent that racked up 155 hits in 42 games during 2013. However, his offensive production was down, with just four goals and six assists.

The 25-year-old is coming off a three-year, $4.2 million contract.

His best season came in 2010-11 when he scored 19 goals and added 15 assists, with a league-leading 336 hits.

I knew this was coming. I’d rather it just be a first round

I’d be very surprised if MIN could get a 1st for him. I think what they want right now is very high. We shall see.

A second round pick is about right. As a RFA, if a team offers him 100,000 more than what he made this year, the team that signs him, gives up a 2nd round pick. I think throwing in a prospect is the leverage the Wild have on any team ensuring that team gets his rights.

I think the most likely trade is for a package deal, and the Wild getting a top 4 d-man.

      Other than that, multiple picks, 2013 2nd round + 2014 4th.

        I agree with Lord Fletcher…
the wild need a pmd puck moving defensemen who can score and also a sniper…
I have no issue in Clutterbuck going but hopefully we can move up up in the draft
        to get some help asap

heard its Cal Clutterbuck to EDM for prospect Tyler Pitlick and 2013 2nd Round Pick… that’s the offer from EDM

    • homegrowntalentmn - Jun 29, 2013 at 1:41 PM

I’ve heard that too… f*** pitlick… screw the prospect. Get two draft picks in this years draft. 2nd and 3rd?

    • greatminnesotasportsmind - Jun 29, 2013 at 1:53 PM

If I’m Minnesota and Edmonton is offering that up, I’d take it so fast.

According to hockeysfuture.com Pitlick is a 7.0 prospect, to which Wild fans can compare to is Jason Zucker who is a 7.0, and your adding a 2nd round pick.

Clutterbuck is a highly overrated, all he does is hit people, and have hockey hair woman drool over. There is no doubt Fletcher would package both 2nd round picks and move back into the first round

      • lordfletcher - Jun 29, 2013 at 2:06 PM

I would take it too but mostly due to the seeding of the 2nd round pick and the prospect is a bonus.

Clutter has value but its dropping. He plays out of position too much but brings a punch. I am guessing he was injured this season because he didn’t play with the same speed and BIG checks. He does have a shoot first mentality but his shot hits the glass 49 out of 50 times.

he is a fan favorite and a very nice guy. I have had the pleasure of doing business with him and I wish him nothing but the best in the future… all that said, the Wild fan in me wants him gone badly. Would rather see a 2nd rounder plus D prospect or a top 4 dman in a package deal.

Tyler Pitlick is a MN kid, I could care less and I hope Fletcher does too.

He would fit in great in Toronto.

We’ll give u clutters and 3rd for gardnier

      • 19to77 - Jun 29, 2013 at 2:24 PM

You’re reeeeally bad at estimating the value of hockey players. Clutterbuck is a career bottom-six player who throws hits and little else. No top prospects will ever go the other way on a Clutterbuck trade.

You might be sick of it (me too), but every time I see his mug, I think Tempstar. So, it worked I guess!!

It will be interesting to see how Fletcher is able to manage the cap and get enough talent in here around the big 2. I was a fan of Cal’s, but this team lacks some big wingers that create space for others, hopefully they address that during the offseason.

    • greatminnesotasportsmind - Jun 29, 2013 at 6:44 PM

I don’t see how Fletcher is able to get much of anything this year, unless the Wild buys out Gilbert. That would give them an extra $4 million.

Next off season is the big one for Fletcher when Heatley, Pominville (if not resigned), Setoguchi, Rupp, Konopka, and the Mark Parrish buy out all come off the books.

I would be suprised if they got a first rounder for him, and still a little surprised if they got a second rounder
