It will dominate talk around the hockey world for the next few days.

The compliance buyout. Each National Hockey League team, as per the new collective bargaining agreement, is allowed two of them, although the period for that doesn’t begin until Wednesday evening.

The Carolina Hurricanes, it appears, will not use their compliance buyouts.

According to Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer, Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford “does not anticipate using any of the compliance buyouts.”

The salary cap moves to $64.3 million for next season.
