Julien on Toews exposing Chara: ‘They can try it again’

After Chicago’s Game 4 overtime win, one thing they thought they were able to do was find weaknesses in Bruins captain Zdeno Chara‘s game. Bruins coach Claude Julien seemed to find some amusement in that idea when speaking with reporters following the team’s morning skate today.

When asked about Jonathan Toews‘ comments about possibly exposing Chara’s weaknesses, Julien dared the Blackhawks to do it again.

“I mean, they’re allowed their comments. If that’s what they think, then they should try it again,” Julien said. “A lot of people have tried to figure out Zdeno, and he’s the type of player he is. People talk about five goals against, but were they all his fault? None of them were his fault, actually.

“But if they want to think that way, they’re entitled to it. I have no response to that except to know that my player is going to be good and ready tonight, and they can try it again if that’s what they think.”

Toews made it his business to poke the biggest bear on the Bruins roster in Game 4. The handful of scrums he had with Chara seemed to light a spark in the rest of the Blackhawks. Now that they’ve talked the talk on Chara, they’d better be ready to walk the walk.

All you have to do is steam roll the hawks in front of the net. It’s that simple. There is not one guy on the hawks you should be scared of. Not a gritty team, as a kings fan I’m still disappointed we didn’t get it done, bruins its time to step up and show these pansy hawks who’s the man

Hawks prove this article to be spot on after game 5. The question is will they do it again in game 6 back in Boston

Pansy Hawks! Dem’s fightin’ words. Should be a great rest of the series.

When it comes to Pansieslet not confuse the hawks with Vancouver and Montreal, as well as the top on Cindy’s team.

The hawks are better than that……

      Go Bs

Haha good luck. Just like the Bruins “exposed Crawford”. Give me a break. These are all high level professionals here.

U would think the blackhawks would know better than that…to run their mouths against a team like the bruins…for example, 2011 nucks. They poked the bear and got ripped apart. Bruins fuel off that….ESPECIALLY chara! I bet the majority of hawk fans are not too happy w toews n bickle right now for their idiotic, immature comments. Chara will dominate tonight

I don’t recall Toews saying anything about Chara being easy to beat, etc. He basically just said that, from his team’s perspective, they couldn’t afford to play as though anywhere on the ice that’s remotely close to Chara was a “no-go” zone.

But it all seems to have touched a nerve with Julien. I suppose it is a little disconcerting to see the other team succeeding against your top d-man like the Hawks did last game.

Chara is solid defenseman. But the best thing to do is go right at him. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

Going right at Chara typically doesn’t go so well. You may have had some luck last game, but things will be different this time. But please, go ahead.

    • spitfisher - Jun 22, 2013 at 6:11 PM

And in so many words that exactly what Claude said…….go ahead.

    • bruinspaw - Jun 22, 2013 at 7:54 PM

Completely agree. Defense was a little shaky but I guarantee they will regroup and come out stronger tonight.

      Go Bruins!!

Toews is lucky chara can’t afford any dumb penalties he probably wouldn’t be singing the same tune right now.

    Go bruins!!

Chara may be big but he’s slow and sloth like and he’s been exposed for it.

    Hawks are chewing him up.

So the Hawks took him up on his offer and scored 2 goals on him
