St. Louis has signed defenseman Taylor Chorney to a one-year, two-way deal, the club announced on Tuesday.

Chorney, 26, was the 36th overall pick at the 2005 Entry Draft, but has failed to make a major impact at the NHL level.

He’s appeared in 61 career contests — just two with the Blues — and spent all of last season with AHL Peoria.

It’s unclear exactly where Chorney will fit on St. Louis’ blueline in 2013-14.

Jay Bouwmeester, Barret Jackman, Roman Polak and recently-signed Ian Cole are all under contract, and deals for RFAs Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk and Kris Russell will likely come soon.

The Chorney deal means Blues GM Doug Armstrong has two UFA defensemen left to decide on — Jordan Leopold and Jeff Woywitka.
