TJ Brennan is on the move again. The 24-year-old defenseman has been traded from Florida to Nashville for forward Bobby Butler, per TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Brennan was only just traded to the Panthers from Buffalo in March. Demonstrating the offensive flair that made him the Sabres’ 31st overall pick in 2007, he had nine points in 19 games for Florida.

In Butler, the Panthers get a 26-year-old winger that had three goals and six assists in 20 games for the Predators in 2013. Butler is a pending restricted free agent, and apparently talks with Nashville weren’t progressing. Hence, the trade.

Brennan is also a restricted free agent.

This kind of disappoints me as a Preds fan. They need offence, they have plenty of young defensive talent already.

What’s the deal with this Butler kid? Teams keep passing him around like a STD in a college dorm. Is he really that much of a locker room cancer that no one will give him a fresh start? He seems talented enough to crack some team’s second line.

    Any insight from Senator fans?

He couldn’t score with Kovalchuk, Elias, Henrique or Zajac. We couldn’t put him on the CBGB line, so we gave him up. simple, if you can’t even score with star wingers than you shouldn’t be in the NHL. Nice guy though.
