Video: EA unveils NHL 14 trailer for E3

Jun 11, 2013, 8:15 PM EST

The future of video games is being unveiled at the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo (or “E3″) this week, so it makes sense that EA Sports shared an official trailer for NHL 14:

As you can see from the video above, the game will be released in North America on Sept. 10 and the rest of the world on Sept. 13.

While the game trots out some new gameplay features, it doesn’t give much of an idea of what hockey video games will look like on the next set of consoles. Maybe fans will need to wait until NHL 15 for things to look this impressive?

The most unrealistic screen grab. Canucks players don’t fight, let alone score KO’s.

Three videos and not one of a Canuck fighting.

True. But the second video is about as close as your beloved Maple Leafs are going to get to a Stanley Cup final.

      Or maybe this:

Your team has won as many Cups as mine sine 1967, finals appearances mean nothing if you lose. Not sure why you’re talking.

RIP Rypien. One of the most exciting fighters to watch. Ever.

      Ask Ben Eager.

From an article entitled “a href=”http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2013/06/06/ben-eager-crashed-right-out-of-the-nhl-in-2013/”>”Ben Eager crashed right out of the NHL”:

“In the shortened 2013 campaign, Eager… got TKO’d in a punch-up with Vancouver ruffian Zack Kassian in the season opener. Once again the concussion put him out for a few weeks and very likely crimped his style after his return.”

I think that’s Kevin Bieksa in the screengrab, he’s got his share of highlights as well.

So yeah. It doesn’t happen often but it does happen.

Good thing they didn’t show the Leafs holding onto a three goal lead in an elimination game, then we’d really have cause for complaint though, am I right?

      Ben Eager, is that you?

Can’t wait… September 9th the Eagles open the season on Monday night against the Skins then the next day NHL 14 comes out. And the new hockey season will be right around the corner. Not much better than fall, when football and hockey are happening simultaneously.

You should be even more excited. What with it being Luongo time for the Flyers and all.

No doubt. We shall see if Chip Kelly has what it takes to survive in the NFL.

Looks great, just sucks its not out for PS4. I do respect the EA team responsible for not rushing to put out a product that would be subpar to the standard set with NHL13. Best sports games are NHL.

idkkkkk man. i just got MLB 13. that game is an absolute masterpiece. it’s got every aspect of baseball you can think of, hold the steroids. the graphics are amazing, and I picked up the controls/team-management within a day when i’ve never played The Show before.

Everything they showed is such a better improvement from 13 the hitting and fighting alone….ill decide about the dekeing and skating when it comes out bcuz there’s def room for improvement

Madden sucks on PS3 and 360. Madden was the best on PS2 on All-Madden difficulty.

As for NHL 14 I hope it gets rid of the garbage goals that get scored! Also I hope the computer puts up more of a fight. I just wish EA would copy the CPU from Split/Second<—Best Racing game I've ever played! Why? Because the CPU adjusted to how you raced in the game and it was always competitive no matter what.

I feel like the music choice could’ve been better..

Any Hawks fans wanna start a series with the Bruins on Xbox?

  8. mp1131211 - Jun 12, 2013 at 5:11 AM

I haven’t played video games in a decade. Nice to see I’m not missing much. I’m surprised the graphics haven’t come along a but further. Looks like EAs work from 1990’s.

  9. jacketsfan7 - Jun 12, 2013 at 7:09 AM

Looks exciting ,I’m tired of my guys bouncing on the ice when he gets checked and the fighting sucked , so this should be good

  10. ibieiniid - Jun 12, 2013 at 8:09 AM

ohhhh how i wish that Simmonds/Cooke fight would happen.

  11. jimthebear - Jun 12, 2013 at 8:44 AM

There’s something wrong in the picture lead to this story.. It shows a Cannuck winning a fight, but we know this is a game and not reality..
