Chicago treating Game 5 like it’s Game 7

Being ahead 3-1 in a best-of-seven series may sound like you’re in the driver’s seat to finish things off, but the Chicago Blackhawks aren’t taking anything for granted.

‘Hawks forward Patrick Kane says his team is preparing as if it’s not Game 5 but as something more dire as Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune shares.

“We’re treating it like it’s a Game 7 mentality and you have to win,” Kane says. “That’s the way you have to go about these games. I’m sure the crowd will be rocking. People will be fired up in Chicago. It should be an exciting game.”

Coach Joel Quenneville told reporters something a bit less desperate at the morning skate presser.

“I think it’s an important game for us,” he said. “I think we want to make sure we establish a good start here and try to dictate pace and try to play with the tempo we had in three of the four games.”

“Can’t look any further forward than today’s game where we want to play our best.”

If Chicago plays their best tonight, they’ll be posing with the Clarence Campbell Bowl and shaking hands with Bill Daly at the conclusion of the game.

Let’s go boys! No more partial effort from here on out….let’s finish this with a statement game!

Yes, finish it tonight! The Kings are going to be playing for their lives in every game. They need to save themselves an extra game or two of getting beat on. If the Hawks make it to the SCF, the Bruins are going to be very physical. Saving themselves of the extra wear and tear would definitely be helpful. Go Hawks!

    It’s all TALK!

It’s human nature to not give it your all when there is slack.

Chicago has 3 games to win 1.

They will not play like its game 7, because it’s….actually game 5!

Dustin Brown said similar stuff…”They are not worried, that the Kings play better with their backs against the wall” (Okay, start by scoring some goals BROWN!!!)

Chicago is the better team. Faster and Crawford has been statistically as good as Quick.

But the better team does not always win. (Quick will need to steal the next 2. But will need goal support!! More than 2 please!!!!!!! Just want to see a game 7..anything can happen)

As a Kings fan I hope that Chicago has the letdown having a comfortable 3-1 lead.

I am amazed that the Kings have made it this far with Kopitar and Brown combining for 5 goals in 17 games! (last year 16 goals in 20 gms) and Stoll Lewis and King combined for 2 goals in 17 games. (last year 10 G in 20 gms)

It’s been the Quick & Voynov and Williams Show!!!!

    But they need help!

The New Englander in me is rooting for the Kings to win so the Bruins will have an easier time.
The diehard Red Wings fan in me is (disturbingly) rooting for Chicago to see a Hawks-B’s match-up.

I refuse to say Go…H… So, good luck Hawks. Hope you guys kill it tonight.

Hawks need win, or Bruins will have a tired opponent, and a huge advantage.

Kings! Where is that Stanley Cup pride? Where are the goals? Dig deep and find that team pride and make this a series! HIT THEM HARD. GRIND THEM DOWN. FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!

Then give up a lame goal in game seven so we can have an original six showdown between the Bruins and the Hawks!

Bobby Orr’s worst nightmare! Who does he root for?

    Starts with a B! 😉

    Lets finish strong Hawks!

I’m hoping for a Boston – Chicago final, but I’d like to see LA win a couple so the Bs get a tired opponent!

And if the Kings win 3? Sounds like you don’t want to face L.A. at all.
