PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma believes Jaromir Jagr hooked Evgeni Malkin during the series of events that led to the Boston Bruins’ game-winning goal on Wednesday. However, Bylsma added, “But I’m not sure, at that point in the game, I thought for one second with how the game was being called, did I expect a call at all on the play.” (McKeesport Daily News)

For better or worse, Chicago Blackhawks forward Viktor Stalberg has a lot of key people watching him throughout the league as he’s eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next month. (Chicago Tribune)

Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic will attract plenty of attention in their key roles with the Colorado Avalanche, but they know that they can’t be the focus anymore. “If we win another Stanley Cup in Colorado, it’s not going to be Patrick, and it’s not going to be Joe. It’s going to be the players,” Sakic said. (Denver Post)

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma also believes Evgeni Malkin did not (slightly) elbow Jaromir Jagr to the head just before the (slight) hooking.

Taylor Hall…Captain? Just because he’s a good player does not mean he should be a captain( See Washington for example number 1). The kid is a punk and does not have any leadership qualities right now. If they want to go the youngster route, I’d say Eberle.

The Caps have a great captain. His passion for the game, his encouragement to his teammates, playing while injured, the respect his teammates have for him, as well as his willingness to do whatever his coach asks (ex: switch positions) are just a few of the many reasons he is a great captain.

I realize a number of you think that someone like Crosby (who leads his team by whining, argueing with the refs, never playing more than half a season, and taking all the credit when his team wins) makes a much better captain. Get past your russian hatred and recognize that just because Mike (idiot) Milbury says something doesn’t make it true.

Taylor Hall?? Captain?? Sure, and give Yakopov an A too! Sounds like a great plan.
