Kings’ Richards ruled out for Game 4 vs. Chicago

L.A. Kings center Mike Richards will miss his third consecutive Western Conference finals game on Thursday night, head coach Darryl Sutter announced.

Richards, the Kings’ second-leading scorer this postseason, hasn’t played since absorbing a big Dave Bolland hit in the series opener.

The hit knocked Richards out of Games 2 and 3, though there was some optimism from L.A. on Wednesday when he took to the ice and skated with the Black Aces.

But, it appears he’s still a ways from returning.

Richards didn’t stake at all on Thursday — Sutter said the reason was because the club was “following protocol” — so it stands to reason the 28-year-old is dealing with a concussion or concussion-like symptoms.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Kings fare without Richards in the lineup. They responded well to his absence in Game 3, scoring more than two goals for the first time in five games, and won the faceoff battle 34-24.

That last number is key, because Richards was one of the Kings’ most active faceoff men this year, taking the third-most draws on the team.

If anyone should of been suspended this series, it should of been Dave “Superman leap” Bolland.

If Dave Bolland is Superman, and that’s how Superman leaps–we’re doomed.

Well he would be a much less significant loss than Keith, so I’d take that/

I really like how they lines are looking right now, but we definitely need Richards. Hope he’s back by Game 5.

Maybe Kopitar and Brown get a clue from watching Toffoli’s effort!

Last year they combined for 40 points in 20 playoff games.

This year they have combined for 11 points in 16 games!

    COME ON! (GOB Bluth)

Im amazed with the heart of this team!

Thank God for Quick and Voynov!

Please Captain and Kopi come to play!

    Go Kings Go!

I agree..Kings need more out of Kopitar and Brown for sure, but lets give credit to Chicago for slowing them down..

    Chicago is awesome.

But Kopitar and Brown’s production has sucked from St Louis to San Jose and Now Chicago.

There is no excuse the numbers don’t lie.

They need to start scoring or the Kings will be done.

Especially without Richards who leads them in scoring this playoff.

I love the Kings but we are gonna need more than a 1 games suspension to a D-Man and All World goaltending from Quick.

    We need…….
