Video: Sidney Crosby struggles against Bruins

Jun 3, 2013, 10:22 PM EDT

Even the best players have off nights.

It’s a comforting thought for normal folks, although sometimes it means that those same people have to watch their sports teams fall flat.

Sidney Crosby‘s had such a rough Game 2 against the Boston Bruins on Monday that some are wondering if it’s the worst they’ve seen of the Pittsburgh Penguins in years. PHT will leave the historic talk to the comments, but this video should illuminate the 25-year-old’s tough evening quite well:

I can see Crosby in the locker room…

“I’m the SUPERSTAR! ME ME ME! What the hell is a Krecji anyway??”

    • amityvillefun - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:27 PM

      No idiot. It’s “Krejčí.” :)

  2. miketoasty - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:25 PM

    This gonna be good!

    • micklethepickle - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:39 PM

There you are! How’d your hero, Beach Ball Fleury do? Tell me more about how insanely talented he is, how he is in the upper echelon of goalies. I’m just dying to hear all about it.

      • miketoasty - Jun 4, 2013 at 9:15 AM

First of all, when did I say ANY of that, I said he was a good goalie with decent numbers for the team he plays behind, but yea might as well make it sound better for you right?

Second, if you know anything about hockey (You obviously don’t) you can’t blame two of the goals on Fleury and the last one barely gets his blame (If you leave a guy with a huge shot wide open at the point he’s going to score).

What team do you root for anyways? And I don’t mean bandwagon I mean like actually root for. I haven’t seen you post much other than bashing on Pens articles. I mean if your just here to troll that’s fine (Actually rather humorous to me that you care that much to waste your life here) I would just like to know which team you root for that has this AMAZING goalie so I can see just how terrible mine is.

      • micklethepickle - Jun 5, 2013 at 9:22 AM

I don’t know what’s so humorous about commenting on a blog dedicated to my favorite sport. Like most Americans, I work a job I hate that doesn’t challenge me at all, sit in front of a computer screen 7 hours a day to do work I could finish in less than 2 hours, and commenting on PHT fills the time. We’re all wasting our life, bruh – you should be more honest about that.

And as for why I comment negatively about the Penguins – they are the most classless organization in the league. With headhunters like Cooke and Neal, a pass-the-blame captain who is constantly harassing the refs to get imaginary calls in Crosby, and a fanbase full of apologists for their disgraceful behavior, they deserve every bit of trolling they get.

And I’m not all that hard on the Penguins, compared to how much I can’t stand the Bruins fanbase. While Pens fans make jokes about the Boston bombing and 8 year olds dying, and excuse players like Cooke who force other human beings to endure life-long pain and agony are pathetic, Boston fans have shown time and time again that they are racist scumbags, still longing for the segregation era. I live in Boston, and can assure you that’s not just a ‘few bad apples’ – this city is the most racist metro area north of the Mason-Dixon line. Nonetheless, the Bruins aren’t their fans, and the Penguins are a much more obnoxious and irritating team that deserves their comeuppance.

That satisfy your question? You can now go back to wanking to AP photos of Penguins players.

      • micklethepickle - Jun 5, 2013 at 9:24 AM

Oh, and go back and read your post – you directly compared Fleury to Quick and Lundqvist, so i’m not ‘putting words in your mouth’.

      • miketoasty - Jun 5, 2013 at 1:11 PM

If by posting stats to show you his numbers aren’t that bad then saying we don’t expect him to be in that kind of statistical category counts as comparing him to them, then sure I did!

Cooke laid the initial hit on Savard that got him into concussion issues, but he is definately not the one who ended his career, Savard came back twice too early from the injury, how you blame that on Cooke is beyond me. Cooke may be dirty but Savard’s doctors/coaching staff should be more to blame than Cooke.

I would like to know your definition of classless, last game Lucic interfered with a two on one (Deliberately) then before the play is even over goes straight to the ref to argue with him, please tell me Crosby is the only one in the league that argues with the ref, at least he waits till the play is over. Hell, look at Giroux last postseason, doesn’t get his way, argues with the ref and then get’s himself suspended all before the whistle for his penalty.

At least back up your statements with facts, I don’t care if you come here moaning about how terrible any team is, but at least prove what you are saying or else you just sound like the other 95% of commenters that just want to get things going instead of having a meaningful conversation. If I wanted that I would just go over to the PFT posts.

    Q. Why did Dan Bylsma get mad when he checked his email?

A, He had too many forwards.

    • chanceoffleury1 - Jun 4, 2013 at 12:21 AM

Where are all these jokes coming from and like I said about the Titanic one, why have I never heard any of them!? Stop it! Don’t make me laugh. I want to be depressed, god dang it!

  4. girouxed - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:29 PM

      Double your pleasure. 8.

  5. scottybcboy - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:29 PM

Who will Bruin haters blame now? Colie ‘Daddy’ Campbell…no. Refs putting whistles away…no. The league wanting the ‘marquee’ team to win….no.

I guess they will have to admit that the B’s are just one hell of a good team!

No, they’ll still come up with something, baaahaaahaaa!

    • amityvillefun - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:38 PM

Torts: “They’ll find something to whine about won’t they, them and their two ******* stars over there!”

I bet he’s rooting for the Bruins deep down.

  6. hockeyfan28 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:33 PM

Pierre McGuire has been silent….to the Bruins on behalf of all non penguins fans I say thank you

    • mpg44 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:44 PM

  7. alan226 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:33 PM

RPLUCK. Nice acronym. That’s what we need to call Orpik from now on.

    HA HA.

  11. Stiller43 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:37 PM

    Who blamed the refs alanb?

    • sabatimus - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:40 PM

      1) Crosby
      2) Who’s alanb?

      • alan226 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:43 PM

The goaltender the Pens are putting in goal next game

    • alan226 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:40 PM

      Crosby after the last game.

      • amityvillefun - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:55 PM

Pick another fight with Chara. Please.

  12. arbruins - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:39 PM

NBC hasn’t noticed yet the bruins are playing the penguins, not Crosby. Maybe that is the problem, Pittsburgh doesn’t have a team…they have a few individuals.

  13. sabatimus - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:39 PM

Funniest part of the game: when at the end of the 3rd Emrick asked Pierre whom he’d start in goal for game 3; Pierre answered immediately “Fleury”, and then less than 5 seconds later Fleury let in the 6th goal.

    • chanceoffleury1 - Jun 4, 2013 at 12:47 AM

You laughed. I cried. Put in Hartzell or Zatkoff at this point. Not like the rest of the team gives enough of a crap to make it a close game anyway. Might as well test out some potential for the future. It’d be one thing if the Pens were losing these games 2-3 or 4-6. But they are just getting blown out. You can’t expect to win more than a game or two if you run an offense first system and are only going to be putting up minimal offense. I’m kidding about Hartzell or Zatkoff, but the Pens need to just get off their asses and put in some effort and grind it out. Give Fleury and Vokoun some help up front. I don’t think either of them is confident in the team in front of them, and then the rest of the team isn’t confident in the goaltending. They don’t have confidence in each other and it’s showing. That’s why they look like a collection of talent instead of a team right now. They are trying to take it to the net themselves instead of using their teammates. There’s no trust or confidence there. They should try trust exercises or something at practice. I mean at this point it isn’t going to get much worse with their on ice play. Might as well try and shake up their mental game to get it going in a positive direction.

  14. jimthebear - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:39 PM

How can the Bruins continue to compete with the high powered offense of Pitt? Wait… Did I say that backwards?

  15. taintedlombardis - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:41 PM

The NBC crew sounded depressed. So blatant. No professionalism. That hardly even acknowledged the Bruins goals.

    • jimthebear - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:45 PM

No, in all fairness, Pierre couldn’t count to six having to hold the mike in one hand..

  16. jimthebear - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:41 PM

Hey Iginla… How’s that decision to go to Pitt instead of the Bruins working out for you?

  17. jimthebear - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:42 PM

    Skidney Crosby…

  18. alan226 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:44 PM

That was a first class a.. kicking

    • chanceoffleury1 - Jun 4, 2013 at 12:48 AM

Or head smashing if you’re Brendan Morrow. Just ugly, ugly play by the Pens. Not a good look for them.

  19. eaglesbest - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:44 PM

Sorry never finished reading your post lol. I take my remarks back. Go Bruins!!! I see pens fans are suddenly quiet tonight.

  20. alwaysgame7 - Jun 3, 2013 at 11:06 PM

Least we didn’t see him whining all game. I gained back a bit of respect for him tonight, he handled himself much better and didn’t (intentionally) make the game about him.

    • amityvillefun - Jun 3, 2013 at 11:49 PM

I take it you got this from Mr. Crosby first hand after the game, his “intentions” and all and how he’s all of a sudden “trying not to be so darn dislikable.”

He must have plenty of time for private press conferences. With other men. LOL!

  21. 8man - Jun 4, 2013 at 7:36 AM

Still a long way to go. And honestly, a change of venue just might be what the Pens need. No hometown press. No anxious fans. Take that road warrior mentality.

And do we really expect the Bruins to play better at home than they did at Consol? Other than some bad penalties, Boston has been nearly flawless. The Pens have seen the Bs best. Lets see what the Pens have. Not over yet.

    Go Bs!

  22. REDSKINSFORLIFE - Jun 4, 2013 at 8:02 AM

Cindy sucks. Even JR was calling him Cindy last night.

  23. REDSKINSFORLIFE - Jun 4, 2013 at 8:08 AM

Cindy will go down as the best play off choker ever.

    • therealdeal18 - Jun 4, 2013 at 9:34 AM

hahaha i know youre one of the official trolls of this site but thats one of the dumbest things youve ever said. his playoff numbers speak for himself. and yes i fed the troll because i just couldn’t let your comment go unchecked.

  24. wengle32 - Jun 4, 2013 at 8:17 AM

I still think it will be a long series. The Pen’s are a good team and will make adjustments to slow down the Bruins. The biggest issue is can anyone stop the Krejci line. So far, in these playoff’s they are playing better then anyone. Just look at the plus minus ratio, no line is close. B’s in 6!

  25. rgryan68 - Jun 4, 2013 at 9:16 AM

First off I am a Leafs fan…so I am anti Boston… however I will give credit where credit is due and they are playing unbelievable hockey at the right time of the year… kudos to them.. Now Pittsburgh… OMG what a collosial collapse by an extrememly talented team.. but nothin beats hard work and tenacity.. shake up is not the word here they need to play there game not the Boston game.. Just like Claude did in game one told his boys… stop the run and gun or we lose and get back to our game dump, chase and pin below the blue line… hence a 2-0 series lead.. sure the Pens are dropping a few bodies out there but seems they forgot how to score goals… now as far as stopping pucks.. Vocooun has been good until this series and Fleury well he still not over the Isles from what I see… now there is a guy Brad Thiessen leading goalie in the AHL maybe you should put him in net… posted a 1.38 GAA in 12 games… might be the spark the pens need to make this a series.. Pens need to realize they are not entitled to the cup you have to earn it.. When the Playoffs started I picked Chicago and the Pens in the cup final… right now it looks like I was only half right… if I had to pick right now I woudl say Chicago vs Boston and boston in 6… just my opinion…
